Just need mod input on something that came up in a search of my old chat messages.
In the context of this question:

Q: What abuses (decreases) wisdom in Nethack?

detlyI often play Nethack as a monk, so wisdom is a fairly important attribute. Occasionally I will see the message: You feel foolish! You haven't been paying attention. ...which means my wisdom has decreased. The trouble is, I usually get these messages while I'm just walking around, so I haven...

...is there merit to a downvote?

> -1: This question shows insufficient research effort, just as the game's output states: "You haven't been paying attention." This may sound ironic, but I'm dead serious. Before posting a question, please do some research and show what you've found – try searching for the message on Google and look at what wikis for the game have to say on it. See also: How does "proof of effort" make a question better?
The original downvote was retracted from the question, but was lack of research effort evident in the question?
I know this isn't on Super User, but just need advice.
I just don't seem to think a question this easily answered via Google deserves a +7 score.
See the context of the above chat message to understand why I think so.
Any mods?

@DragonLord I don't personally have the context of that game to know whether it's a good question or not, but it seems fairly concise, clear, and to the point. Not really sure what you're looking for us to say here... voting is a personal thing, only you can decide whether you think a question deserves your vote - be that up or down.

Just found this:
youtube.com/user/h2nmk/videos: Compromised YouTube account? The account's last legitimate activity was a highly popular video published five years ago, so it looks like an abandoned account that was specifically targeted for an attack. In any case, I'm pretty certain this is spam. — DragonLord 3 mins ago

I've noticed a disturbing trend here.
Although posts to YouTube videos are still relatively rare, it seems attackers have started to attack YouTube accounts in an attempt to usurp their ad revenue.
Bare YouTube links should always be considered suspicious.

@RsyaStudios: If you EVER see the name Tony O Hare, or <english/irish city> datarecovery, just spam flag it.

Tracing is going to be hard as Anthony O'Hare is using a shared host

Just sent abuse reports to O'Hare's domain registrar (NetHosted) and hosting provider (The Bunker Secure Hosting).
I'm stopping at nothing to shut this spammer down.
To whom it may concern:

It has come to my attention that one of your customers, Anthony O'Hare, has been using your services for the purpose of spamming. The websites, primarily advertising data recovery, have been referred to numerous times on the computer Q&A site Super User and are recognized as spam by the site's moderators:

> If you EVER see the name Tony O Hare, or <english/irish city> datarecovery, just spam flag it.

I ask that you take appropriate action against this user. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your response.
@JourneymanGeek, I have had enough with Tony O'Hare.
I've launched a direct assault on the spammer and hope to see a response from the service providers soon.
I am taking initiative to shut down this spammer for good.

DragonLord the FieryI've decided to attack the problem at the root, shutting down the spam blogs themselves. The secret here is to run Google searches using queries like site:blogspot.com watch football (the site: operator as used here limits the search to the blogspot.com domain), click on and examine any suspicio...

@DragonLord: good luck with that. Also, I've been mostly offline for the last two days. I have an eye infection so I can't really use a PC or phone effectively. Been dying of boredom.

Commercial product.
Emphasis is placed on "free" to fool users into getting what is actually a commercial product.
It's only a free trial.

Looks like spam

This is pretty obviously spam.

Why do people even bother spamming SU? it's pointless...
