I wonder if this is a known bug, I have up-voted several days till I got the message you have no votes left, wait .. hours till you can vote again, and non of those cases the number of votes on my activity page (where they show how many more votes you need to get the 'vox populi' badge) did get up to 40. I get the impression that the site loses count when you up-vote a few times in a short time span, but does keep count when you give it a few minutes after each vote.

I forgot how long is the update interval..

give it sometime and you will see..

Yes it does but it seems behind and when I vote fast it does not update all the way

each vote has a record in the database.. so it will match with the next update..

I have been voting all I can, no flags, for at least three days and I did not yet get the badge yet

It is not that I want that badge to urgently but I am used to report bugs when I find them

yes, up/down votes only count.. not the flags.

And as 40 is maximum, it should be given when I am out of votes for the day, or there is a good reason or bug

No good reason I see, (no flag, not even down votes)

unless it only count votes for questions only or answers only..

I know.. but it is not really uncommon for some badges to be not well explained..

And when I do a couple of votes in a short time, leave computer and return after hours, the vote count is not up with cast votes

Mostly just one or two off, but that is enough to throw the badge.

The badge (you need so many more) counter did count the Q as well as A votes, (up all, did not do any down)

Yes, but I think I did 40 votes (although there might have been one flag if it) that day I got the suffrage badge

I am working hard on getting those votes today, but my day (personal) is nearly gone. Mostly I start working at 7 AM so midnight is bedtime, tomorrow is a national holiday and I have it off, but it is still late.

I have managed on those days I spend part of the day or the evening home, not been home much today

But I have not gotten the badge of having voted 40 yet, which I think I should have.

I think it is a vote counter glitch, when I vote a few in a short time it seems to miss one or two

The counter just jumped from 23 to 29

i guess one of them take a real count from the db, while the other from the cache..

the bot that awards the badges works with the cached one i believe..

as it always did, which gets updated on some interval..

By day it says 12 but on last vote I got the 'you have 5 left' message

if you ever voted the same person more than 4 times in a short period.. these votes will be cancelled and counted...

you won't notice.. the one who got the voted will..

so, i guess you did the 40 votes, some of them were cancelled because of the serial voting.. which made you not get the badge..

the rollback is done in the same day..

On the main board it is a nightmare

punishment votes are horrible
