@YeZ When you log in, there is the red number of inbox messages, the green rep counter, and a blue number for new hats. I got "Saint Lucia" on MY and LH.....whatever that means.

When there is no blue number there, there is a gray snowflake icon

@DoubleAA Wow; good find. I have no memory of posting that comment, myself. @MonicaCellio, yes, that's what I did. Both big shuls here make a point of making a similar announcement when they present gifts to benei/benot mitzva on Shabbat morning.

זכין לאדם שלא בפניו ואין חבין לו אלא בפניו (מסכת קידושין, דף כ"ג) הוא כלל במשפט העברי שפירושו: שאפשר לעשות פעולה עבור מישהו על ידי אדם אחר - ללא ידיעתו של אותו אדם עבורו נעשית הפעולה, במקרה שהשלכות הפעולה הן טובות עבור האדם שעבורו נעשית הפעולה. המקרה המצוי והמוסכם ביותר שבו בא הכלל לידי ביטוי הוא: יצירת בעלות לאדם על רכוש ללא ידיעתו. כלומר: כיוון שעל פי ההלכה, כדי להיות בעלים על רכוש, צריך לעשות אחת מפעולות הקניין. @DoubleAA thanks. I did get the others once you used the phrase. I did not make the connection with the first word (so is the nun part of the shoresh or if not, where does it come from?).

@MonicaCellio The nun is aramaic. Think of it like a the familiar yud-mem suffix in Hebrew. So like אנחנו מזכים (only the pronoun is implied and the present tense prefix isn't around in the Aramiac there)
