3:00 AM
@spugsley The quote.

@spugsley presumably the terrible tv synopsis.

I'm wearing two pairs of pants.

@FEichinger :/

If it's acceptable for network television, it's not flag worthy goddamnit.

@LessPop_MoreFizz While I agree, "language!" is kinda relevant.
Mostly because, as I said, we had just gotten out of a flag mess.

3:01 AM
@LessPop_MoreFizz Trailer Park Boys was on television
Penny Dreadful is on TV and it had a weird sex scene with an invisible demon

Isn't the bridge in a perpetual state of just got out of a flag mess?

@Unionhawk Actually, the Bridge had been surprisingly clear of flags for weeks.
It just started to get messy again a few days ago.

@GnomeSlice so were scrambled 'adult' channels that you could juuuust make out if you fiddled with your vertical hold.

@gnomeslice cable tv != network tv

@GnomeSlice I want to watch this show. Is it good?

3:03 AM
Shh details

Penny Dreadful? Its thoroughly meh.

@spugsley I watched a couple of episodes. It was a little hard to follow. Very dark.
Didn't really grab me though.

@spugsley "it had a weird sex scene with an invisible demon" is not an immediate sell for you?

@FEichinger sadly no. American Horror Story had lots of weird sex but I fucking hated it

@Spugsley if you're going to watch a weird 19th century drama on cable, watch The Knick because holy shit The Knick is good.

3:04 AM
@spugsley That is truly disappointing.

@LessPop_MoreFizz hmm never heard of it. I'll take a peek

@spugsley I didn't understand what people liked about this. I watched the first season. It really seemed like they were making it up as they went along.

@FEichinger it is much disappoint

@spugsley ಠ_ಠ

@StrixVaria I know! It was completely senseless

3:05 AM
Clive Owen is a brilliant doctor in a hospital in NYC in 1900

Penny Dreadful also has a monster willie in it

@GnomeSlice willie like penis?

Directed by Steven Soderbergh who is brilliant.

Yes. Frankenstein's monster.

hmm

3:06 AM
Like I can't talk up the Knick enough. It's something special. Also super gory so don't watch after eating.

I have been watching Breaking Bad
And it is pretty excellent.
Was kind of expecting more tits though
But I mean Game of Thrones next, so I guess I'm covered

Q: Why can't I link Abel's Step Kick into cl.HP or cl.MP?

lumbricus lubricantEvery time I practice in Training mode, it seems to be a hit and miss. I know Counter-Hit makes it easier to link, but since I can't rely solely on Counter-Hits w...

@Gnomeslice ... Honestly.

@GnomeSlice I fucking love Breaking Bad. It just gets better and better.

Please. Develop a goddamn filter.

3:11 AM
@GnomeSlice only the first and second season. It gets much less booby over time

@spugsley It just keeps getting better, I know!

I'm into season... uh three? now? The cartel guys just tried to [redacted] Walt

@LessPop_MoreFizz you can't really talk :/ Last night you posted a link about animal sex

The redacted word is hug everybody.

3:12 AM
@GnomeSlice Omg I wish I had never seen it so I could go back and watch it all over again without knowing what would happen

Lol
Also his wife found out that he's a [redacted]
And she's trying to [redacted] him

@LessPop_MoreFizz Is what is on this question true?

@GnomeSlice bahahaha

Q: Is there a home of New York-style pizza in NYC?

thinly veiled question markMuch like how when visiting Buffalo, and trying to get a bite of Buffalo Wings, anybody can go to any bar or restaurant to try one, but the "original" wings are at the Anchor Bar. Or, for example, if anybody wants to get a bite of the "first" hot dogs, one can go to Coney Island and go to Nathan'...

I didn't really have much time to visit pizza shops when I was in the city
What I regret was not taking your advice
We visited Coney Island, but I totally forgot about ToTonnos
I also visisted some decent place near Central Park
other than that, didn't get much of a taste of pizza
and I visited the Jamaica station and I booked it out of there, so sketch
well, visit as in, I accidentaly rode the 7 train too long and ended up at the end

@Lumb more or less. It's close enough that I don't feel like posting an in depth correction.

3:18 AM
sweet, thanks, I'll just accept that one, and will probably visit it the next time in nyc
and is it true like the commenter mentioned that you need to really soak up all the oil from the pizza?

The short answer is, yes, the original Lombardi's was probably the 'first', but is not under the same ownership anymore. Lombardi had several family members and apprentices that branched out, and there are a number of places that are under continuous family ownership one or two generations removed from the original Lombardi which are generally better.

Like Totonno's, right?

@spugsley omg and Jesse's girlfriend [redacted] in her sleep and then her dad [redacted] at his job and it made a huge mess
Walt should have [redacted] her
rglawekbjsisrd
he was there
but she was being a huge bitch
and she knew his name

@GnomeSlice omg you don't even knowwwwwwwwwww AHHHHH

Tottonnos is one, Patsy's in Harlem is another, Grimaldis, Johns on Bleecker. And a few others are either operated by descendants or students of Patsy Lamcieri

3:20 AM
@spugsley have you watched The Walking Dead?
I watched through that before BreakingBad
it was awesome

@GnomeSlice I am not caught up. It got weird :/
I made it to season 3 I think? Idk

Got weird at which part?

@Lumb for your typical cheap corner slice, blotting off oil with a napkin is a common thing - I do it because I end up burning the roof of my mouth if I don't. Plenty of people don't. Or do it because they want less grease/oil. YMMV, and it depends heavily on the quality of the slice.

@GnomeSlice things with Andrea and Rick's horrible acting

Rick's acting is kinda weird yeah.
Andrea is just a dumb blonde
I should go to bed, I have to work tomorrow

3:27 AM
mhm

Im back

Brb

3:44 AM
oh my god. I REALLY hope this is a joke. nypost.com/2014/08/18/…
but sadly, I don't think it is
ughhhh

@spugsley I'm gonna guess it's written by a guy.

@Frank nope. The writer is a pretty well known NY Times contributor named Doree Lewak

And I'd be wrong.

"I imagine the catcall stretches back to ancient construction times, when the Israelites were building the pyramids, with scores of single Jewish women hiking up their loincloths, hoping for a little attention."
No.

@spugsley It's a bit of an iffy situation; some girls dress for exactly that reaction.

3:47 AM
@Frank most girls dress the way they want to dress and regardless of their choices shouldn't be called out, good or bad :/

@spugsley I'm not saying catcalls are good or bad; just saying that there's no real right answer.
As evidenced by her take on it; she obviously wants guys to.

and where is the line? How do you distinguish which women are "dressing for it" and which aren't?

@spugsley I don't think it's a line.
It's based on the personality of the girl.
And when in doubt, err on the side of caution, and don't.

I can't get behind that line of thinking. There should always be doubt.

@spugsley So catcalls are always bad?

Can we please leave the gender debate at the door?

@FEichinger no.

Catcalls are super super not cool.

@Frank yes

@frank yes. Yes they are.

3:51 AM
always. 100% of the time.

@LessPop_MoreFizz This is awesome!

I don't see how. Just look at the article; she's saying she loves them.
And that's totally an out of context flag.
But, fine, whatever. Flag it and that just means the discussion gets cut short.

@Frank and she is one woman in millions. I'm saying it's impossible to have absolutely no doubt that a girl wants to be catcalled.

It's a sad day when I happen to agree with @Frank of all people.

@spugsley But that contradicts your statement. Catcalls are not always bad.

3:54 AM
@FEichinger Stop. Not wanting to discuss things like this is the other half of the problem. If it makes you uncomfortable, you're welcome to bow out, as I frequently do when discussions here make me too anxious.

@frank they are always bad because the harm done by them when they are unwelcome is so much greater than any harm done by her not getting that momentary attention.

@LessPop_MoreFizz So because guys misread the situation so often, it's better to not do it at all.

I need to go to bed.

@Frank okay. Sure. There are some people that like them but that doesn't mean they aren't always bad. It continues to further a behavior that's damaging more than uplifting.

@spugsley Yeah, I'm not going to be sorry for being sick of seeing this shit crop up everywhere, with a zealousness to it that is just as terrible as the things it's calling out.

3:56 AM
Now, I'm not advocating that it's something people should do, or even something I do.

And, frankly, when flags get involved after I nicely asked for us to avoid this subject, I do get annoyed.

@Frank Because it is inherrantly impossible to read the situation.

@TrentHawkins yes. Exactly my point.

For girls you don't know, yes, absolutely.

@FEichinger that was you asking nicely? It wasn't. It was you being snarky.

3:57 AM
Hey, I have a cool idea.

6 mins ago, by FEichinger
Can we please leave the gender debate at the door?

Lets talk about video game.

That was a perfectly nice question.

You have no idea if that's the sort of thing they'd appreciate, so, yeah, don't.

@Frank okay, I'm totally with you there. If it's a girl you personally know and she wouldn't feel unsafe by your outcry. Sure, go right ahead. But that is definitely not the usual case. Can we agree on that?

3:59 AM
@spugsley We sure can.

:D
@GnomeSlice lol I like video game

That's the whole point I was making; if a girl I know is knocking it out of the park, I'm gonna let her know.
If she's comfortable with me telling her that, anyway.

@Frank absolutely :) I didn't realize that was your point and I am all for that. I thought we were talking strangers. When I hear the phrase "catcall" I don't think "nice compliment on female friend"

@spugsley I think that's where the article writer was coming from; I was getting the feeling she knew the guys.

@Frank oh. I didn't get that at all. If that's the case, I wish she would make it clearer

4:01 AM
I'm pretty sure he's wrong about that.

I just reread the beginning part, and now I'm not seeing that anymore.

> when a total stranger notices you, it’s validating.

@frank yeah, the author of that article is not talking about compliments from friends.
She is specifically pushing back at the growing movement to make it clear how unwelcome street harassment is.

@LessPop_MoreFizz yup. I think she was going for controversial but it does make me sad that she really does find that sort of thing validating. It's scary. It's the kind of thing that makes me walk with my keys between my knuckles just in case I need to stab someone who starts following me

@spugsley this is also the woman who wrote an advice book on how to "cope with not being married"

4:05 AM
I need to go to bed
goodnight

I think it's safe to say our society is still very male oriented, and is very slow to equality.

@GnomeSlice night!
@Frank agreed and it makes me sad that some women (like that writer) have issues with internalized misogyny. And I'm totally sorry I jumped down your throat. I am usually very happy to receive a compliment from my male friends :) just ask @Ktash

@spugsley Remember, I dance with a ton of women I don't know very well. Last thing I want to do is make them feel unsafe.

@gnome night

@Frank Of course :) You definitely don't strike me as the type which was why I was like "Wait, whaaaat" when I thought you were in defense of something like that.

4:11 AM
@spugsley I do lots of devil's advocate, because I like to argue.

@Frank Yup. I have a husband like that hahaha

Just to make sure that we're not losing a point that might be valid. Yeah, the overall message might be bad, but she could have something in there that's worth talking about.

@Frank I agree. Obviously, it's cultivated some discussion and that's a good thing

Can any 1 read my chat list my i just got a new wifi system

@spugsley And it wasn't cut short by out of context flags!
So I'm happy about that.

4:13 AM
@stizzle84 nope.

@Frank YAY! Always a good thing!

Lol thx fizz

> Even though it might sound harsh and impolitic, here is the bottom line: if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you. Don’t argue with me, don’t call me names, don’t tell me that I can’t stop you, don’t say I’m a racist pig, don’t threaten that you’ll sue me and take away my badge. Don’t scream at me that you pay my salary, and don’t even think of aggressively walking towards me
I just... I can't.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Yeah, I read that. It's the whole issue with police authority in the first place.

"No officer goes out in the field wishing to shoot anyone, armed or unarmed." False.

4:17 AM
It's essentially, "Comply, or I will hurt you."
Which has absolutely nothing to do with co-operation, and everything with fear.

"...and outright challenges to my authority." Really? Your authority.

@frank its actually comply or i will use forse
Force

They're basically saying, "Do what I tell you. It doesn't matter if I might actually be wrong. If I am, you can sue the city."
And that NEVER backfires.

" and officers are rarely at fault. " More false.

But that's the end to my discussion for the night.

4:20 AM
@LessPop_MoreFizz yeah I just got here. No. Just. Wow. No.

@LessPop_MoreFizz To combat this, I'm going to go watch some youtube videos of people telling the police "No"

U think they lie @spug

@spugs, sorry, didn't mean to make you uncomfortable with the whole catcall debate.

@robot hi!!

@Frank all good :) Not uncomfortable at all. Just glad for some good discussion that ended well. Doesn't happen often enough.

4:21 AM
@spugsley Reasonable debate is somewhat of a lost art form on the Internet.

@Frank bahaha such truth

@spugs who is that in the picture

@stizzle84 which picture?

Yours

...um...that's me....

4:23 AM
Ohhhhhhhhhh

@origamirob good plan.

Y did u change your black and white 1

@OrigamiRob the newest Beyond Belief is soooooo goooooood. Pterodactyl Jones is my favorite.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I'm not even close yet

I can't wait until you get to the Jupiter stuff in Sparks Nevada. It is so great.

4:26 AM
@stizzle84 because that was an older picture of me and this is me right now :)
@LessPop_MoreFizz omg. I want my name to be Pterodactyl Jones....

@LessPop_MoreFizz "Am I free to go" is a fun youtube seach

@OrigamiRobot lol I'm sure

@Spugsley Pterodactyl Jones is responsible for one of my all time favorite sentences: "She had a body like the Indy 500, all curves and explosions."

@spugs cool

4:32 AM
@origamirob the problem with these idiots is that they are doing this at a border crossing, where, legally, you actually really do have substantially fewer rights.
See also: sovereign citizen morons.
This one is my favorite.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Most of them aren't mexico/US borders, they're just places in the US near borders.

Well im off to bed!!

At least TMK
Or state borders

No not state
Goodnight

@LessPop_MoreFizz When I first found out about the whole sovereign citizen stuff, I tried to find anything on the subject and couldn't.
The only thing I could find was basically "yes this a thing, trust me"

stizzle84I cant vote please help. One day I got onto arquade, only to realize I can not vote is this a bug? If so please help. I have already tried reseting my entire computer.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my god I am dying.
@OrigamiRob oh it's definitely a thing. If you want I can dig up the crazy YouTube videos where they try to explain how the only law that applies to them is maritime law and they have no names and generally just go off the rails.
There is one dude in NH who appears in court weekly to fight citations for shit like having a couch on his lawn and tries his dumb sovcit verbal judo on judges that are clearly tired of it and posts all the hearings on YouTube.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I've seen the videos, I meant people claiming all the stuff about maritime law and all that are basically just saying "this is true, I know it"
I couldn't find anything about that stuff anywhere else

@OrigamiRob it is because they are crazy people and it is not true.

@LessPop_MoreFizz The Natural Living Man?

Basically they read crazy implications into laws that are not there. Shit like assigning weird and arcane significance to the use of capital letters.

4:42 AM
@LessPop_MoreFizz Yea I remember him talking about something in all capital letters

Mainly they are just crazy people.
This 911 call is incredible
I'm dying.

4:56 AM
@LessPop_MoreFizz omg what even

@Spugsley she is a Sovereign Citizen, which is a special flavor of crazy person that believes laws don't apply to them because their name is not printed in capital letters on their birth certificate or some similar nonsense.

I am going to bed but I am definitely reading up on this craziness tomorrow. Wow

Closely related, and also worth bookmarking: rationalwiki.org/wiki/Freeman_on_the_land
Once you've done some more reading about these crazies, ping me tomorrow and I'll link you some hilights from my hilarious collection of YouTube videos of them trying to confront the government and failing.
> A lot of freeman ideas revolve around bizarre interpretations of entries in Black's Law Dictionary[2] — a favourite reference for freemen — and inventing or seeing distinctions where there are none to support their beliefs (such as "policeman" versus "police officer," "understand" versus "stand under," words in CAPITALS having a different legal meaning to those in lower-case, etc.).[26] A lot of pareidolia with words and concepts is used to derive and justify ideas in freeman theory.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I've seen the videos, I just have no idea what they're basing their claims on.

> Freemen believe that an individual has two personas. One of them is a physical, tangible human being, and the other is their legal person, personality, or strawman: a legal fiction created when a birth certificate is filed with what would normally be considered someone's name (e.g., JOHN SMITH), capitalization being a particular obsession.
> They believe their birth certificate is their legal person, and will attempt to present it in court when said person is called for, rather than identifying themselves as that person.
@OrigamiRob the two wiki articles I linked do a decent job of explaining it.
Fundamentally, they just read way too much into homonyms and capital letters and words that end in -ship.
(Yes. Really. They think that "citizenship" is derived from "citizen-ship" and that people are treated as boats under the law.)

5:10 AM
> This gives their legal arguments a hilarious nautical theme.

So, effectively, armchair lawyers with a thin grasp of the English language and even thinner grasp of legal language... + crazy.

This is the first one I saw

Ok, this was bad. Spotify played an ad for a rap-artist, so suddenly I had rapmusic instead of metal. I think they should maybe look into directing their ads to people who actually listen to that kind of music.
I do not like rap. At all.

meh. I like the word plays found in good rap songs.

Yeah. Don't push @Arperum, 'cause he's close to the edge. ;)

@badp links to any symphonic metal

Also: not even about war or anything. Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song cc @badp
That's actually a balad. And it's awesome when played live.

Also Sonata Arctica's "What did you do in the war dad". Which is the opposite of glorifying war

8:43 AM
@KevinvanderVelden Price of a mile isn't exactly glorifying it. Pretty sad song.

Yeah I know
Wasn't implying that price of a mile was glorifying it =p

Coming from Sabaton, I'd guess it's about something like the western front in WWI.

ALso: gonna see Sabaton in February (again (seen them three times this year))!
@MartinSojka It's about Passchendaele

Close enough.

Also: they have songs that are not about WWI too.

8:47 AM
They tend to have songs about stuff, mostly military campaigns, which didn't end well for anyone involved.

Yup, their latest cd focuses more on single persons though. Or about a single regiment or such. Mostly single persons.
The cd before that was completely focused around Charles XII, King of Sweden starting from 1697.

@murgatroid99 I took two compilers classes :-P
I wrote a (toy) compiler from scratch, it was fun!

@Arperum Gustavus Adolphus, actually ... whose weakening of Poland-Lithuania and several German states allowed for friggin' Prussia-Brandenburg and Russia to raise. Thanks a lot, jerk. As I wrote earlier, the whole affair didn't end well for anyone involved.

@MartinSojka True.

Charles XII just continued on the same path, trashing Saxony-Poland-Lithuania and associated states while looking for God knows what and in the end leaving Sweden broke, weak and devoid of something like a third of its male population, so they got mixed up easily.
(Local history is fun as long as you didn't have to be there to live it)

9:02 AM
Living it sounds like would be unhealthy. Wars are always bad for everyone involved.

@badp +1 Sierpinski for the effort.

@badp Do you have a link to that song?

mindcanon://badp/songs/genres/metal
Dude my knowledge of music is only slightly above zero. There's like classical which is old and expensive and occasionally awesome, then there's normal songs which are only bearable if you tune out the words, then there's rap where words are basically a musical instrument and metal where everybody is angry and disappointed and screams and the instruments scream, then there's 8-bit/chiptune which is like "look at me! only one handed!", Jazz which is like metal only sadder and more polite
...and everything else is probably bullshit terms people use to make themselves feel more important
Please don't destroy what little I know :P
I just usually limit myself to songs in video games because they tend to be happy with taking second stage and let me focus on other things

9:13 AM
I understand Serious Sam 3's soundtrack is metal? That one wasn't too bad.
I HOPE THIS ZERO-EFFORT CONCESSION WAS SUFFICIENT TO SATE YOUR RIGHTFUL OUTRAGE AT MY DISPLAY OF COMPLETE AND TOTAL IGNORANCE

@Arperum well, there's the time it takes to actually do something, and there's the time until you can actually do it
As in, if you're super busy and something low prio is given you'll leave it for a while

Q: Why do ADCs always go for damage over armor?

user53963Considering bot lane, it is customary for the ADC to build ONLY armor or armor pen while the support builds his gold income and sightstone. The idea behind this is for the ADC to be able to dish out as much damage as possible while depending on his support to keep him alive. I get this - it sound...

@Lazers because they're attack damage carrys?
I dunno I don't play lol, but in dota it's basically "because the rest of the teams job is to make them not die so the carry can make the enemy team die"

More damage = more killing sounds like reasonable to me.
"Offense is the best defense" and all that.

Yeah, a support generally builds a mek for armor and healing for the rest of the team, some carrys are good with an assault cuiras which is + attack speed and + armor. In addition to negative armor for the enemy team
But that can also be an item for a support (in lower skill games that last a long time)

Jesus Christ you're having a what at this tech convention?

A tech showcase. By the way, is there a requirement for the booth babes contest to be female, or can I sign up?

All the wats... and the facepalms

I'm the interest of gender equality I'd say go right ahead! Not sure how you'd look in a bikini though

@PrivatePansy mankini

@Wipqozn I read off their recently announced city builder, and was all ready to pose questions to the game :O

@PrivatePansy As fabulous as only an almost-40, overweight, grey-haired European man can look! The girls have no chance. The only problem will be getting my huge hairy balls to not stick out all the time ...

Welcome to Singapore - thoroughly modern, yet strangely backwards looking at the same time

@PrivatePansy meh, I don't doubt this could just as easily have happened anywhere else =p

Quite sure tech shows elsewhere in Europe and America have discouraged if not outright banned booth babes

CES doesn't, E3 doesn't either

Don't think any of them would even think of drawing in their audience with a bikini show

They discourage their objectification, not the use of models for promotional purposes.

PAX does though, eurogamer does as well

It's kind of offensive to have them stereotype their target audience as young single men who'd have nothing better to do than to look at booth babes at a tech show

I don't mind tech shows hiring models (... of any gender - throw in some cute guys in there as well, please?) to present their stuff, as long as the the focus is still on their products and services and I can talk to actual technical staff. It's a giant waste of everyone's time otherwise. I'm there to talk business, not look at boobs; I have the internet for the latter.

I feel like vandalizing the advertising for Lucy to say 'Only people who use 10% of their brains believe human beings use 10% of their brain'

> Great question - to be honest we can't answer that right now. A few more months of development when the simulation layer is more mature we'll be able to give you a more accurate answer. Is there a population size where you go: "Fuck I have to buy this game now" - that would be helpful for us to know.
