Why are roguelikes all the craze today?

I prefer Linux because of the customizability, as I do plenty of programming. Basically put, Linux is best for programming Server's and cross-platform stuff (Vbox for testing in other environments), Mac is best for Graphics/Publishing/Arty stuff, and Windows is best for business and gaming.

the thing with Windows is that there's software for pretty much anything available on it

so while it may not be the best at something, it's great at everything

Only reason it's so popular and used and has so much software for it is because it's cheap and it's everywhere. If Mac was cheaper and Linux had started out slightly better/easier to use, I think MS would have far less grip on the market.

That's why Windows tablets are so big today--a full Windows experience in the palm of your hand.

Anything can be customized, Linux just has the most powerful and most plentiful easy-to-access options.

@Chippies Well, with Linux, if it's just a simple server or dev environment where you don't need a desktop, you don't even have to install X--and even a 15-year-old laptop with 64 MB of memory could conceivably act as a web server.
