@Ullallulloo Are you sure Ness skipped it? Also I forgot about Doctor Mario. Young Link became Toon Link.

My math makes perfect sense.

Yeah about mewtwo and Pichu though.
Although they added Lucario who was basically mewtwo two

@Sterno That's kind of the point.

@Ullallulloo Captain Falcon was DEFINITELY in Melee.

@Ullallulloo No he didn't, he got PK Flash in Melee.

6:01 PM
Hold on, I'm reading this table wrong.

Well, I need to get out of this place before I die.

@Wipqozn Hopefully you're playing in ULTIMATE BADASS HARDCORE MODE

@Sterno No, just Normal.

Oh. That just lets you reload to before the last fight if you die. That makes balancing how far you should go in a dungeon before returning to town way less exciting.
Less frustrating too, though.

IT only does it once it sounds like.

6:04 PM
Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, Pichu, Roy, and Young Link.
I was reading unlockable characters

IS that the only difference than? That you can reload before death?
Enemies don't get any stronger?

Ness and CF were just default characters in Melee.

@Ullallulloo Young Link was replaced by Toon Link in Brawl... Roy and Dr. Mario were just reskins of other characters (and Luigi is already a reskin of Mario...).

I hope that the new SSB is more like Melee than Brawl
Not a fan of Brawl
It's slooooow

@Wipqozn From the three lines I read on a review, the difference between Normal and Hard is being able to reload to right before your death (versus losing all your progress since you last saved in town)
It isn't the most reliable source
There's got to a be a website out there dedicated to answering questions like this!

Also, time to buy armour!

@Sterno HINT HINT HINT HINT HINT @WIPQOZN

Now my guys won't be beat to death by rats.

@Wipqozn Wait until the moles start showing up.

Things that poison you are the worst.

I laugh about that, except also in Elona I've graduated from getting my behind handed to me by rats to getting my behind handed to me by moles.

6:08 PM
@GraceNote They already have. I think.
@Sterno I fought those two.

@Sterno Oh, right, good point - which classes can poison this time around?

Fucking butterflies. Attacking me as I relaxed.

@GraceNote I have the most trouble with baptists.

Did Alchemists get their poison skills back?
@Wipqozn YES YES YES

But I can defeat the rogue boss now!

Also, wow, neither Hexers nor Alchemists can poison? Booooo.
Sterno, what classes in EO4 could poison?

@OrigamiRobot Yeah, their fire/ice spells suck.

Wait 'til you meet the third kind of baptist.

@fbueckert It's that they teleport away all the damn time.

6:22 PM
@OrigamiRobot That, too. You run up to one to shotgun it in the face, and it promptly disappears.

@OrigamiRobot Rods of silence will go a long way to stop that, nevermind whatever means to inflict any of confusion/paralysis/sleep at a range (potions, spells, etc.)
Some enemies use a special action to teleport (so silence won't help), but baptists and liches (oh you will hate liches more than baptists) use a spell, so silence works.

@BenBrocka Psst, they removed the poison ability from TF2 and made the Medigun heal from a distance instead of point blank instead.

Incurable except by a friendly Medic.
And, as I recall, it poisoned teammates you touched after that as well.

Oh, Arcanist was the other one in EO4.

Gee, I wonder why it was removed for TF2!

@Powerlord I think so, it was meant to be like, a pathogen type thing

@Powerlord Nasty

6:28 PM
Of course, I'm surprised that the Medic hasn't gotten another poison type ability seeing as how Valve added Bleed damage over time effects to TF2.
As long as it doesn't last forever, it can be balanced.

@Sterno Shiny. That gives me high hopes.

Which was the balance problem with the poison ability in TF/TFC.

Arcanist actually had an AOE poison, if I recall

Oh, hey. Pikmin 3 gets paid DLC.

@OrigamiRobot :(

6:29 PM
You're taught very early on in the first games of just how potent poison is, and this isn't a game where every enemy late-game resists everything. In fact, status immunity is largely absent, difficulties aside.

@fbueckert Is this like the first time Nintendo has ever done DLC?

@fbueckert What

@MichaelDunfield No, New Super Mario Bros. 2 had some.

But you just can't do it in EO3 easily, it's so awkward and you can barely capitalize on it at all.

@SaintWacko Apparently, it just got it's first pack today.

6:30 PM
@fbueckert What.

@Powerlord Oh. Well, still. They don't do it often.

ಠ_ಠ

@MichaelDunfield You mean other than every game they've released since NSMB2 last year?

@Powerlord ?

@GraceNote Even in bosses? I hate status effects in RPGS because you only really want them either as passive effects for weapons or against bosses, and bosses are usually immune to any significant effects

6:31 PM
@BenBrocka Sometimes the only way to get a rare drop from a boss is to kill them while they're suffering a specific status ailment.

@MichaelDunfield Well, OK, I haven't heard of DLC for Wind Waker HD... but NSMB2, NSMBWiiU, and Pikmin are at least half their lineup and all 3 have paid DLC.

@GraceNote Who, that's cool

@Powerlord That's every game Nintendo has released since last year? Wow they have to speed it up a little...
Also I didn't know those had DLC. =[

And certain bosses, status is a major impact on your ability to win the battle. Not in the sort of "The only way to win is X" but it is a major tide turner.

@MichaelDunfield That depends, are we counting title produced for Nintendo by other companies?

6:32 PM
@Powerlord I don't know. I guess not.

@GraceNote Patapon 2 actually does something like that. It's pretty neat

@BenBrocka Bosses are more resistant to you landing the status effect in the first place, but generally aren't flat-out immune.
At least in EO4

I ask because Mario & Luigi: Dream Team was done by alphaDream.

In other news, I suspect I'll be finishing X3 tonight. May start on X4, or may just play Rune Factory.

I AM SO GOOD AT CARAVAN GUYS

6:33 PM
@GraceNote I severely underappreciated how useful binds are when I was playing EO3, but I corrected that in EO4

and I'm pretty sure we had a new Pokemon game by Game Freak since august last year

Fallout broke me

@Sterno Ninja and Duelist (well, Princess/Duelist) were major components of my teams for a good reason.

@spugsley That sounds... painful.

Nintendo's definitely trying out monetization models. the wii fit U thing seems interesting
Princess is a class?

6:34 PM
@spugsley You just like gambling.

In EO3, you only have 4 options to inflict poison. Certain thrown items inflict it but the damage is minimal and item space is kinda really valuable to have. You can smith poison onto weapons but the chance is meh and the actual poison damage is typically not worth it. Ninjas get Makibishi but it's a counter skill and it does a whoppin' 50 damage per turn.

@GraceNote I had neither. Or any of the 3, really. :(

@OrigamiRobot DON'T JUDGE ME

6:35 PM
but seriously. I watched like...tutorials and shit because I was so mad at how complicated it was. But now, I'm a fucking master.

The Venomfly summon is the only really good poison attack, at 350 damage per turn, but Wildling animal management is exceedingly problematic and also hoses most team builds.

@GraceNote I can't speak to the efficacy of poison in EO4... just that 2 classes did have skills to apply it as an attack.
Maybe it did really crappy damage though.

@Sterno As long as I can do it directly to the enemy at my own volition, I'll be fine. My major gripe is more the two skill options, which were a counter (and a weak one at that) and a summon.

This is fucking gross
His fridge is all full of blood and shit

@GraceNote Yeah. The Arcanist also had AOE binds. It was a pretty cool utility class

6:37 PM
In EO2, I had a Hexer pretty much wipe the floor with even bosses thanks to poison.

The hard part was pumping luck up enough to make sure the effects would land consistently

> Your fridge looks like it belongs to Satan
hahahahahahah

Well, not really wipe the floor, as you're never really in a state to "wipe the floor" with anything when you're supposed to encounter it. But y'know what I mean. It was a functional and nice strat.

@MichaelDunfield I'm doing this purely to inspire someone's fury, but I imagine it's an acquired taste.

@GraceNote Ugh.

Taste is ultimately subjective so if he is resolved to need raw meat then so is as it is. Better to accustom to the taste than to remain revolted, no?

I could see getting used to raw meat, maybe. Getting used to rotted meat would be hard though.
Now I want steak.

@Sterno Ask @fbueckert, I hear he went months just eating rotten meat.

@GraceNote And cursed meat.

@Coronus 'sfar as I know most folk go through the "eat cursed stuff" phase.

He brushes his teeth with Animal Fat.

Time to go home and maybe play EOUMGwhatevertheacronymis

@Sconibulus Unicorn horns exist but they're for fixing your Sanity stat, not sickness.

> With nothing to lose, Derek gave raw meat a try. That was five years ago and he now goes so far as to brush his teeth with animal fat.

@BenBrocka The name alone makes me think I'll lose the rest of the week to it.

@Sconibulus Rotten food consumption doesn't cause sickness or any temporary effect like in Nethack - rotten food abuses all of your stats so basically stat loss of the sort you can only recover by training those stats back up.

7:05 PM
@GraceNote That sounds like the worst sort of hell
I reset my first Morrowind character because prison permanently degraded one of their stats

That's kinda why you don't eat rotten food.

@MichaelDunfield Damn you @GnomeSlice for making me buy stuff!

@Arperum =]

@BenBrocka To that point, sitting in prison also abuses your stats. Admittedly, very slowly, but it's a thing that basically makes not ever ending up in jail a good idea.
I don't know how recoverable it is in Morrowind, but in Elona, though, recovering stat loss isn't too hard. It's less of an egads and more of just a setback in your natural progress.

7:11 PM
@GraceNote I think, since there's effectively a max level in Morrowind, it potentially permanently lowers your max possible stats

@Origami's like level 11 and he's already bumped his DEX and PER to great numbers.

At least I don't recall ending up with a 100 in everything

@BenBrocka Oh, in Elona, stats and character level are independent of each other. Level really just influences skill points, feat access, and your HP/MP.
Your stats are trained simply by using them appropriately, and they don't really have any cap anyway.

In Morrowind you can permanently reduce your character's maximum potential with poor level up decisions I think
which is why you must rest and meditate on what you've learned

7:13 PM
@BenBrocka Yeah, that sounds extraordinarily frustrating.

@OrigamiRobot Geez

Holy crap that was cool

Is that good?

@BenBrocka Yeah, I remember that.

For your level, yes.

You really want to work on that Will though. But keep on pumping that DEX/PER.

What does Will get me?

inb4 HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED

Willpower affects your HP, MP, and Stamina, for starters.

7:17 PM
I see. How can I train it?

The best way to go about it is to pick up Eye of Mind, which as a thief you want anyway.

Hmm, I don't think I have any of those skills.

IS that one of those trademark things where anyone can file in any name?
Because someone filed "corgis unleashed" under BLizzard's name a while ago

@BenBrocka Hahahahahahahahaha

@GraceNote Oh that's great since I autocrit all the time!

7:19 PM
I dunno.

@OrigamiRobot Precisely.

Fighter's Guild it is then

You can do it without joining the guild if you don't want to make your commitment yet

7:20 PM
(Though I heard that in some version of Elona Plus they did actually add the ability to change guilds, but I don't know the system fully)

Wait, whoa, I didn't realize this was captured entirely in-camera.
That's... fucking awesome
> Box explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping onto moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera.
WOW!

@OrigamiRobot There's an item called a Disguise Kit (also a spell and a scroll called Incognito that do the same thing), which lets you hide the fact that you're wanted. If you can manage to sneak into a guild hall, it will also trick the guild into not thinking you're an intruder. You won't be able to use the guild benefits but you'll be able to peacefully speak to the guild trainer that way.

@GraceNote Oh, I've read about that in reference to the Thieves' Guild and thought it only applied there.

You can do it in any of the guilds. Thieve's Guild is the only place where you can sneak in and use their own Disguise Kits.

@GraceNote Haha
