Q: Did Kubrick take care to get the strength of artificial gravity correct "2001: A Space Odyssey"?

uhohThis answer in Space Exploration SE suggests that the diameters and rotation rates of both "The space 'ring' in earth orbit..." were "...not even large enough for a near 1 'G' environment... let alone the smaller 'Odyssey' ship sent to Jupiter..." Kubrick being Kubrick (or Clarke being Clarke), I...

If the earth would spin faster, at how many rotations per day would we start to feel sick? Maybe two?
11:28
Probably wouldn't notice feeling sick. Things like the day being shorter would be noticed first.
"wow its dark early" kind of thing
not feeling sick would be good :)
so we would 'never' feel sick regardless of how fast it would spin because other processes caused by higher spin would be disastrous first?

If the Earth spun fast enough to feel sick it would be fast enough for us to not touch the surface of the planet anymore... To be sick it would require at least 1 revolution per minute, that would be pretty crazy...
ohh that would be way too fast
Yeah, would be pretty crazy.
It would be fast enough that objects on the surface would have orbital speed, so...
nothing left which could feel sick
but it is a good thing to know that we wouldn't feel sick if the spin speed would be doubled for example :)
thank you for your time answering my 'silly' question
No problem.
This has space applications for example. How big to build a space station to have it have gravity by spinning it.
oh I see, hm I guess it would have to be pretty big

The answer is that a spin of more than 1 RPM causes problems with some people, so you have to figure out how to build it big enough such that a 1 RPM spin won't cause a problem.
I think that is an interesting question
the other day I found online a really nice looking really huge photo of many stars and galaxies, it was called 'hubble site heic1909a'. It was so huge! But i had a small section of it printed as a photo poster behind an acrylic plate. And whenever I have some spare money, I going to let an other section of it printing
and maybe one day I have the whole photo :)
printed at the right resolution the whole photo will be 355x355 inches big, that's almost 9x9 meters
