For a few years now, excess emission of gamma-rays in the direction of the Galactic Center has puzzled scientists. In the paper we discuss today, the authors re-analyze data from the Fermi telescope to get new insights into the origin of this excess emission. They make the case for the signal being described by dark matter particles annihilating in the center of our Galaxy.

It isn't if you end up spending lots of time on reiterating points of scope, specificity and quality requirements over and over again to those that didn't even bother to read any of the available information. I again ended up trying to save others from headaches only to develop one myself. Considering it's supposed to be fun, and all the work that goes into it isn't paid, I do wonder sometimes if it's worth it.
I'm trying to push this idea of community self-moderation forward all the time, and I'm still not succeeding. So we get comments, taking issues with questions, and not a single vote to close as such. Meaning, it's then up to us three, and it of course looks like a one-sided decision without basis. In all actuality, I have actually yet to see one case of that, from any three of us, or the occasional intervention from community managers.
And having many thousands of reviews under my thumbs on other SE sites where I'm not a mod, I have to say it's a lot easier just being a regular member. I also wouldn't mind dedicating my spare time to mostly asking and answering questions, where most of the fun is.
