I'm just going to leave it here so as not to clutter the main chat, but is something along these lines what you wanted?
@{selected|wtype}&{template:simple} {{rname=^{arcana-u}}} {{mod=@{selected|arcana_bonus}}} {{r1=d20}+?{Skill_Proficiency|arcana, @{selected|arcana_prof}|athletics, @{selected|athletics_prof}}@{selected|pbd_safe}+?{Ability|Strength, @{selected|strength_mod}|Dexterity, @{selected|dexterity_mod}}}} @{selected|rtype}+@{selected|arcana_bonus}@{selected|pbd_safe}]]}} {{global=@{selected|global_skill_mod}}} @{selected|charname_output}
I know it's incomplete and the labels are all wrong as they always show arcana but hopefully the syntax can help

4:45 PM
I'll need to test it when I get home later tonight. The idea I was going for was a two-prompt system: First it would let you choose which Ability Score to use, and then it would let you choose which proficiency (if any) to use. Would this macro (if expanded upon to fully encompass all 6 ability scores and all 18 skills?

Oh nevermind you're here :)
yep, that's what it does
although it's prompting for skill first but you can just reverse the order
I still haven't figured how to make the output use the same value to display that the player rolled the correct skill though

What is the pdb_safe attribute? I've seen it appear in some of the macros I was using as a reference and I didn't get what it was. The Attribute list was so massive I couldn't find it in the list and figure it out.

No idea honestly, I just altered the builtin macro for skills that the sheet uses

Fair enough. XD

It wasn't using advantage so updated:
@{selected|wtype}&{template:simple} {{rname=^{arcana-u}}} {{mod=@{selected|arcana_bonus}}} {{r1=d20}+?{Skill_Proficiency|arcana, @{selected|arcana_prof}|athletics, @{selected|athletics_prof}}@{selected|pbd_safe}+?{Ability|Strength, @{selected|strength_mod}|Dexterity, @{selected|dexterity_mod}}}}
@{selected|rtype}+?{Skill_Proficiency|arcana, @{selected|arcana_prof}|athletics, @{selected|athletics_prof}}@{selected|pbd_safe}+?{Ability|Strength, @{selected|strength_mod}|Dexterity, @{selected|dexterity_mod}}]]}}@{selected|pbd_safe}]]}} {{global=@{selected|global_skill_mod}}} @{selected|charname_output}
This will be quite the huge macro if you add all the skills and abilities

4:59 PM
Perhaps!

1 hour later…
6:07 PM
Well I really have no idea how to make the label work the way I want it to but the rest of the macro is ok
I made 3, using the power of nested macros
The main one:
@{selected|wtype}&{template:simple} {{r1=d20}+#1ability_select +#2skill_select }} @{selected|rtype}+#1ability_select +#2skill_select ]]}}@{selected|pbd_safe}]]}} {{global=@{selected|global_skill_mod}}} {{rname=^{nature-u}}} @{selected|charname_output}
the macro called "1ability_select":
?{Select Ability|Strength, @{selected|strength_mod}|Dexterity, @{selected|dexterity_mod}|Constitution, @{selected|constitution_mod}|Intelligence, @{selected|intelligence_mod}|Wisdom, @{selected|wisdom_mod}|Charisma, @{selected|charisma_mod}}@{selected|pbd_safe}
and finally the macro called "2skill_select"
?{Select Skill Proficiency|Acrobatics, @{selected|acrobatics_prof}|Animal Handling, @{selected|animal_handling_prof}|Arcana, @{selected|arcana_prof}|Athletics, @{selected|athletics_prof}|Deception, @{selected|deception_prof}|History, @{selected|history_prof}|Insight, @{selected|insight_prof}|Intimidation, @{selected|intimidation_prof}|Investigation, @{selected|investigation_prof}|?{Select Skill Proficiency|Acrobatics, @{selected|acrobatics_prof}|Animal Handling, @{selected|animal_handling_prof}|Arcana, @{selected|arcana_prof}|Athletics, @{selected|athletics_prof}|Deception, @{selected|decep
macro was to long for this chat so I had to add a line break on the last one
The label is probably best just removed by deleting {{rname=^{nature-u}}} from the main one
I mean in theory I know to make a proper label, you'd have to create a separate macro for each of the combinations that is 18?*6 macros and way too much just to fix a label :)

Gotcha.

labels are also using some magic where only specific words such as skill and ability names show properly
no idea how that works
well, I got myself a new macro in the process, this was a fun exercise

Thank you! I'll give it a try and see how well it works out for me.
