Thift?!!! I think it is big word to call her mother a thief.. her mother needs help. so if she cannot help her, at least show her some respect.

@asmgx "Take my car without giving me a say" is pretty much the exact same as "theft" as far as I can tell.

@JMac I wonder how many parents should report their kids for STEALING their stuff that were taken without the parents permission.. anyway, it all depends how the family look at each other!

@asmgx Depending on the laws and age of the children, it might not fall under "theft" at all. I think parents should also consider legal action against their adult children if their adult children take things from them without permission too. For a small child it's quite different, because the parents legally have to provide for the children, and things like ownership and theft are really fuzzy in that case (if a child takes something, do they really own it, or the parents?)

Either way, just because she could be called a thief I'm not saying OP has to report her to police; but it wouldn't necessarily be wrong to use the word thief.
