@EmC I don't find issue with the post itself, I agree that something like that should be there, but how it appears to new users not knowing how the site operates can be a bit skewed. Providing more context may help tip the scales back in favor of locking it.

@EmC ...or you could leave community policy more open to the community. Then again, I suppose my perspective on how the model worked was either never correct, or is no longer correct.

look at the "how do I write a good answer" meta, particularly "expertise, not opinion"

well, summary -> expansion (I'm on mobile, it's hard to compare multiple posts directly so I was partly going off memory). A lot of it is based off RPG's, as noted in the Q section, but we'd already established that answers should include backup in the same ways (experience based or objective aka reference based), which all ultimately came from the Good Subjective Bad Subjective blog

You were even the one who asked that we started enforcing the backup policy on meta.

Kinda missing the point there.

Anyone who thinks the policy needs to be changed is still free to make a new meta post where everyone can easily see and discuss it. And ElizB has now raised the suggestion of including a brief history of the policy which would show that it wasn't just one mod making it up one day. On that note, since this chatroom is supposed to be about the election, I think this discussion should be continued on meta or the main chat.
