@MichaelWehar hi, defn like the idea of a weekly series and variety of guests but alas its way too ambitious for now, gotta start out small. the Physics site which has very busy chat was lucky to get 5 guests in ~½ yr & took a lot of effort by multiple individuals to organize. the so-called (SE) (CS) "community" tends to be quite passive at the moment esp wrt chat & "extracurricular activities" and Computer Science and Theoretical Computer Science metas fully attest to that.

@vzn Thank you for the feedback and perspective. I think you're right that the meta communities don't appear to be super active. I think that a single AMA won't do a lot of good, but if we put our minds together and figure out what is really holding people back or making them "passive" with "extracurriculars", then I think that could do a lot of good for the community. What do you think?

@MichaelWehar hi, have studied this a lot. social media/ cyberspace is not really taken that seriously by scientists/ academics, not without reason. its acceptance is slowly increasing but scientists are generally conservative by nature. there are outliers eg MathOverflow which is embraced by mathematicians who maybe have a little different personality. simonsfoundation.org/mathematics-and-physical-science/…

@vzn Hi vzn, I'm glad to that hear that you've studied this quite a bit. I think that you're experiences with combining social media and research interactions is really neat. In regards to doing an AMA, let's hold off until there's a good venue where we could establish it as a regular thing. I hope that you have a nice weekend. :)
