Hi Dedalus, it's not clear to me! I actually never thought about that result. It's anyway a bit bizarre to consider T_1 spaces.

I would recommend sticking to compactly generated weak Hausdorff spaces where it's clear because the map factors through a \kappa-small compact Hausdorff (well, we also need to make sure \kappa > X, which doesn't follow from the cofinality bound written in the notes...) which receives a surjection from a \kappa-small extr. disc. Maybe you should ask Peter for clarification
