How is the notion of derivatives of curves at a point homeomorphism-invariant? seems to me like the set you mention isn't well defined

He's using the differentiable structure on R^n to try to take derivatives, so I think it only depends on the embedding.

@JoeBerner I have added your remark that is a related tag to the post on meta about divisors tag‌.
I hope I did not misrepresented what you said. (But of course I can edit the post further if needed - or simply remove that part completely if you prefer.)

@JoeBerner He said "locally homeomorphic" i have no idea how to make this independent of the embedding in general.

Does anyone have an electronic version of the book Transformation groups by tom Dieck?

@SeanTilson djvu version; 1987 edition (I am not sure whether there are other editions, too.)
But I'd guess it can be found on the standard websites.

I will take your response as "No, I don't have it." :)

I am not sure how to understand the last message...?
But if you prefer to discuss this elsewhere and not here in chat, it should be quite easy to find my email. (Either via my profile or simply using google.)

Sorry, I didn't mean any offense. Your message essentially reads "it exists on the internet" which isn't as helpful as it could be. But I have found it now, thanks.
The reason it is less helpful than it might seem is that frequently these sites go up and down and I haven't used any of them in the last 4 years so I don't know what the standard sites are. It would have been more constructive for me to ask for such a standard site. Sorry about that.

@SeanTilson Well, I meant this: Library Genesis

Excellent! Thank you very much!

Sorry, if I was unclear. My two messages above was intended to say: "Yes I have it." (Including the details about the version of edition.) And the next message said: "It can be found online."
Re: which isn't as helpful as it could be. I agree with that. But some folks around here (MO and MSE) do not like mentioning website like that - despite the fact that they some of those sites are known well enough to have a separate Wikipedia article about them.
That's why I was a bit restrained about what I should mention here.
Anyway, you said you already have the book. So case closed.

I understand the sentiment regarding the websites being mentioned here and elsewhere.I definitely didn't parse your message correctly. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the response on the meta post @JoeBerner.

@MartinSleziak No problem, I will try to ask some of the enumerative geometers if they have an opinion they want to contribute later today
