Q: Visualization software or webapps

SPRajagopalI am unable to come up with a better name. Let me explain what I mean. I'm looking for some webapp that will let you analyse text comfortably. For analysing long pieces of code maybe. Split parts and join them together. Highlight. Move them around freely. I'm not even sure if this exists but it's...

Software questions are off topic. Web app questions are off topic - there is actually a web app section. I will request this question be moved. Any way, your question is not clear. What text? Text in a browser, the source code of a web page, a shopping list, a programming language? Are you asking for a method to lay it out as you would using images and photoshop?

@DaveRook Oops, sorry.
No, just any text. Not necessarily HTML or JS.

Would something like the TextBox in MS Word, or a drawing program like Photoshop or Paint.Net (free) work for you?

You can't move text around freely. There is a preset consequent way of adding text in MS word. And in paint you can't edit it once you let go of the textbox.

I didn't say Paint, I said Paint.Net :) Look it up, it's very good. And will give you this control. Can you explain what the project is? If you're looking to layout text for a book/magazine etc, then I would recommend Quark, Illustrator or Indesign. If it's for print, you'll need to be aware about Vector and Raster images

It's not any project really
I have a long piece of code that I need to edit now.

Hi, I've only got a bit of time but go for it. Code means what? Web/desktop/mobile? What language mate?

I was wondering if maybe there is a visualizing software that might help. Like in the movies, you know
Matlab - language

Like in the movies? Can you give an example or find an image using Google images?

Move text around, foreground it, background it, zoom in, edit.
Iron man, maybe? :)

didn't see it ha ha. OK, I don't know enough about it, but why can't you do it with matlab? Is it your screen is not big enough? I may not be the best person to ask to be honest

9:11 AM
Yeah exactly, screen isn't big enough.
Besides, don't you think this kind of stuff should be here already?
I mean, flying cars were a disappointment but text visualization - come on!...:D
Ok, I guess you must be busy. I'll delete the question then.
Shall I?

ha ha ha, Don't you think it's not for a reason? :) there are other ways. For example, I am .NET dev, and I use 3 monitors. This gives me more than enough room. And yes, there are times when

3 monitors. Wow

I am working on a site, and I want to remove some code and drag it here or there
but if I had only 1 monitor, it would be too hard (And typically, just adding a comment does it). moving code around like that does 1 thing IMO - makes you forget what it was, where it was etc.
Personally, I'd consider an extra screen or two!
depending on what your machine can handle!
OK, just seen a few shots for MatLab, and it looks like it will get busy very quickly. You'd be better off having 1 screen for graphics, 1 screen for code and the third for other.
the only warning is, after you use 2 screen, you can never go back to 1 screen

Ha ha...not with my broke ass!
Alright then, I guess that's that.
Thanks.

No worries.
And remember for this, you don't need a special monitor, jsut make sure grpahic card can do it. You can pick up the old CRT monitors for nearly 0.00!!! :)
Bye
