Q: Is this question about emailing professors fine?

OokerI have a question to ask on the main site, and I want to ask on the meta first. I ask this question for two reasons: To have answer for it, obviously. I do want to check if it's good or not To improve my image in your eyes. I know I have been looked down as a crank by many My concern is that ...

Your "well-received"-link seems to be broken, it links to Reddit.
You could get even more meta if you ask this Slingerland guy if it's okay to ask this question here on meta!;)

are you on mobile? I usually get broken links too on mobile, but are still accessible on computer. As for your second comment, I hope that if he finds out he will think that I have done my homework, and make sure that I respect his time

I am on mobile, yes. One thing I do not understand: Is your article somehow published and peer-reviewed?

no. It's just a wrap up on my idea so that I know what I want to study. It is not written in academic style

Then I would personally not use the word "article". If someone talks about an article and its not something peer-reviewed (or to be peer-reviewed), I would think of that person as a crank. In my opinion, you should instead write "my blog post" or "my ideas on ...".

I see. I thought that "article" is neutral. I thought that if you use the word "paper" for something not peer-reviewed, then they would be a crank. If you use "my blog post", then the prof will look down on me.

Of course, I don't know how reasonable thatSlingerland guy is, but a doubt that any reasonable prof. will look don't at master students who publish blog posts!

May I ask why you use the phrase "this Slingerland guy", "that Slingerland guy"? It feels disrespectful to me. As for blog post, this is why I ask this question, so that I can have good impression to him.

Sorry, it was not meant disrespectfully, just a normal way to speak about them (but I am not a native speaker). Feel free to remove the comments you don't like

@user105595 no worry. Can I ask your honest thinking? What do you think about it? Does your crank alarm ring?

Unfortunately, yes. My problems are:
- no mentioning of your affiliation
- link to reddit
- "article"
What I'm not sure about: are is your summary self-contained? (It should be.) I.e. does the word "double negation" has a meaning he would know without looking into your article?
Not trying to be negative, this is my honest opinion.
Maybe another user could also provide their opinion here?
