Q: Do you get an Opportunity Attack with an unarmed strike at 5ft. when holding a 2-handed reach weapon?

darnokA reach weapon adds 5 feet to your reach making it 10 feet. If you are holding a 2-handed reach weapon (eg a glaive) with 2 hands and someone moves from 5 feet away to 10 feet away do you still get an opportunity attack? Or because you are holding the weapon are you unable to use an unarmed stri...

Please let us know if those questions and answers cover your issue. If not, please edit this and specify how what you are asking is different.
Are you asking if you get an OA with the reach weapon or the unarmed strike?
In addition to the above question, do my edits look agreeable to you?

I don't see this as ready for reopening unless it is a drastically different question. OP is currently asking about when to get an OA with two different reaches - and that's the duplicate.

@NautArch in this case, the particulars of unarmed attacks seem to be the focus here however which don't seem to be covered in the other question. Eg can you make an unarmed attack while holding a 2h weapon? Does having both hand occupied prevent you from making that OA? I think these are different enough to possibly warrant reopening here. Am I missing something?

@Rubiksmoose I may be being too literal. But if they're asking if leaving unarmed reach generates an OA (and then if OA can be an unarmed attack) would be a new question. But currently this is asking the same thing as the dupes: I have a 5' reach and a 10' reach - do I get an OA when someone leaves one of my reaches?

@NautArch it has that question as an underlayer sure. But it seems (and I am waiting on confirmation from OP) that the intent is to focus on the unarmed attack. Answers would have to adress the question of if unarmed attacks can be used for an OA, if they can be used for an OA while both hands are holding a weapon, etc.

@Rubiksmoose I think we're in agreement. But if they're really asking about OAs and unarmed then confirming that feeds into the next question of multiple reaches which is a dupe. Otherwise, we're basically asking "dagger/whip...shortsword/whip...etc. etc. etc."

@NautArch except none of those other weapons have a compelling difference from the dupe so they would be duped.

@Rubiksmoose i hear you - but i'mnot sure it's a really compelling difference either for unarmed strike.
but i'm fine letting the community sort it out while we figure if they're really also asking if unarmed strikes can be used for OA.

@NautArch well the fact that you can have an arm be occupied in a way that a dagger cannot be.
If a dagger is sheathed, it is sheathed and if it is held it is hels

@Rubiksmoose unarmed strikes aren't just arms

@NautArch exactly

but that's a different question than what this is
OH!
i finally got it.
yes, not a dupe. i'll reopen it.

:)
@NautArch I might wait though for OP to confirm
Look at the changes I made, which do flavor this interpretation.
OP's original question is a bit less clear.
(which is why I haven't yet reopened myself)

@Rubiksmoose ah, oops. well, I did it :/
guess we'll see
i don't think my tables have allowed unarmed strikes as OAs like that. Not sure if that's raw or not.

@NautArch I did a double check myself. Can't find anything that says otherwise.
