Is there a better way to do an encode/vs each-left than x{x\:y}\:y?

@coltim for which dialect?
 
@ngn basically any. In k4 a byte can be saved (sometimes) by using .q.vs instead of {x\:y}, but that doesn't feel great

@coltim not sure if it can be called better, but by some miracle ngn/k can make a list of derived verbs with (\'x) and they can be applied with (\'x)@\:y
(both \ and \: can be used as "encode")

@ngn interesting! I feel like I stumbled across some way in one of the k code golf answers... although searching for "\" or "\:" feels like a fool's errand =P

I gave up and went with {(+/'(!x).q.vs\:x)?1}, which benefits from all sorts of k4-specific quirks
