2:56 AM
It's 3am and my sleeping pattern is still screwed. More news at 10.

Insomnia, hate it. I feel you man. I haven't had any solid sleep for what seems like 3 days almost

It's not insomnia, I just buggered up my circadian rhythm over the holidays

@Phrancis 4am, 2am and 1am for all 6am wakeups. Coffee has become my sleeping pattern

4:16 AM
@DanPantry Mine is doing the irritating thing where I got up at 6am on Monday, and my circadian rhythm's been moving backwards ever since.

@Zak I'm 100% okay with waking up at 6am. But yesterday I woke up at 4am, today 1am...

Zak
That's a pretty big jump. Mine's only back to 4am so far.

4:29 AM
@DanPantry wait you were asleep?

@Vogel612 I was asleep between ~7pm and 1am today

cool, I'd love to actually sleep before 2AM once :/

@Phrancis 4am, 2am and 1am for all 6am wakeups. Coffee has become my sleeping pattern
I'd love to get more than 2-4 hours sleep for once
coding is just too good you know (and other things)

@Vogel612 It's not all that great.. I get home at 6pm. Falling asleep that early means I am incredibly tired around 4pm-5pm in work.

@Quill you're younger... you can pretend to keep going better :/

I suppose so
I'm at like four to five cups of coffee a day

I had heart palpitations yesterday which I imagine had no small part being influenced by caffeine

my writing level has gotten noticeably worse too

I'm back to between 0 and 4 cups...
used to go through 6 or something this spring and summer :/

@Gustavo6046 careful, I think this may not mean what you intended to say

@Gustavo6046 Why was this flagged please stop

if you intended this meaning you should be even more careful

ok, I was not meaning that then

@Alenanno you got them flags anyways??

To those here on Flag business: Issue resolved, bad wording

3:39 PM
but what was flagged?

Guys, be careful with the flagging. You alert all the moderators. Only flag when absolutely necessary.

@Gustavo6046 that message about favoritism :/

@Vogel612 What do you mean?

@Alenanno actually 10k-users...

I didn't flag it

3:39 PM
or was there a mod-flag?

well then nevermind

@Alenanno All 10k+ users, not just mods.

@Vogel612 I got it

@Gustavo6046 you can't flag your own messages, you know?

They were regular flags, I think 2-3 of them on one message

3:40 PM
I hit invalid twice

@orlp My point still stands.

right... less flag-discussion, more back to topic?

yes, please

just noticed: my last 6 in username doesn't show here in chat! :v

@Gustavo6046 Pardon?
I moved all of the messages you (and others) posted about flags to go here because it wasn't really on topic in the main chat room.

Did somebody invited me here? Lol

@Alenanno messages got moved...

Sorry @Alenanno, it's because I moved some messages that you posted.
It could have been worse, I could have invited you to Trash.

Ah OK.
Lol

@Gustavo6046 that's a display bug

oh ok XD

If your name is too long (and your screen is too small), the chat rooms will shorten your name.
It's only visible on your screen.

my screen is 1366x768, imagine if it were 1990's 640x480

Mine is also 1366x768. I have no clipping on a 1080p screen

3:54 PM
then the screen must be rated by the inches, not resolution
?
wow, MY question has 4 UPVOTES

@Gustavo6046 that tends to happen :)

What should I name the code? libhtml?

@Gustavo6046 No, it's just having higher resolution means less clipping because there's more space for the names to be in.

Q: C++ Not-So-Simple Entire HTML Generating Code v0.3

Gustavo6046As a follow-up to my code's v0.1 revision, we now introduce V0.3, with capability for storage of attributes and a struct for each HTML tag. Just start the struct, call its functions, change its variables then use <fstream> to make the complete HTML file using generateHTML()! (53 lines! Now I am ...

I'm really bad with names, so I can't suggest one.

4:26 PM
does anyone remember that term for when you think you've invented something but you're subconsciously using a stolen idea

hypocriticism?

I dont' want you to use that term because I just realised it comes from a racist newspaper lol

Cryptomnesia occurs when a forgotten memory returns without it being recognized as such by the subject, who believes it is something new and original. It is a memory bias whereby a person may falsely recall generating a thought, an idea, a song, or a joke, not deliberately engaging in plagiarism but rather experiencing a memory as if it were a new inspiration. == Early use == The first documented instance of cryptomnesia occurred in 1874 with the medium Stainton Moses. The word was first used by the psychiatrist Théodore Flournoy, in reference to the case of medium Hélène Smith (Catherine-Élise...

@Quill So it's like the opposite of de ja vu?

I don't get the "crypto" prefix there

4:29 PM
perhaps @DanPantry
@Mat'sMug Like to mean hidden

@Quill Apparently, that's not a real word and is pseudo-science. Check the talk page.

from Greek κρυπτός kryptós, "hidden, secret";
not in english at least

@Quill That's cryptography.
It doesn't make sense in the word Cryptomnesia at all.
(This might be better suited to ELL)

@DanPantry that's the definition of the root phrase crypto

Sticking the word 'crypto' in front of a word doesn't mean that it makes sense to use 'crypto' in that word
I'm calling bullshit on cryptomnesia being a thing, tbh
there's no references or citations to it on the wiki page
nor is there even etymology on it

there's not particularly

There is probably a word for the phenomenom you described, just not cryptomnesia
Go ask on the english alnguage SE, i'd be interested to hear their response

meh
it'll probably be closed

Though if they reply with "it's cryptomnesia"...

I'm too tired to construct a decent question
I'll get around to it tomorrow
I had even intended to actually code something tonight... ;-;

4:39 PM
Man I'm so fucking tired as well
I woke up at midnight this morning

I got to bed at 2am last night and woke up at 6am and now it's 2am again

lol
you need to go to bed earlier youngun
:p

the worst is when you do like 8pm to 6am comp sessions
it's probably easier for MOBAs like LOL but for FPS games it's a bit harder

what do you mean?

well, I don't know exactly, I feel like MOBA reaction time is slower

4:44 PM
not really
at highest levels of play reaction time is literally at the human limits

Yeah, but whether it's constantly necessary is another thing entirely

there was a play a pro player named WildTurtle made a while ago where he flashed away from a Malphite ultimate
he had about 200ms to react

CS:GO pro players get that

4:51 PM
I'm @ work atm, so YT is blocked
BWT with the reaction speed I linked
WildTurtle was literally 1px away from being hit by the Malphite ultimate
if he had flashed any later, he ded

5:17 PM
Lol @quill

he actually managed to get worse and he lost the 'legend' status people tagged him with

5:50 PM
is this IRC?
just asking

6:12 PM
my problem is that I have that Asperger syndrome and I don't know how to behave in group

@Gustavo6046 I think a lot of us have that.

somewhat similiar to that film called "Adam", I guess

There is a reason we hate being around people in person.

Zak
@Gustavo6046 *waves*

We just call it "being INTJ", usually. We are the special 1%.

Zak
6:13 PM
@Hosch250 Nah, INTP Master Race!

Everyone else just has problems keeping their mouth shut.
@Zak I'm INTJ, but I have some P elements too.
I think it is mostly the INT part.

But the very difference -- and what makes me beat records -- is I am the first kiddo in Brazil that learnt how to use a computer in with 5 years and learnt how to make HTML with ~7 years afterbirth. That when I was a kid and still didn't joined Stack Exchange ;)

Zak
It's mostly that INT* have "Extroverted Feeling" right down at the bottom of their cognitive function stacks.
Respectively, 3rd for INTJ and 4th for INTP

I am a unique person for Brazil. And now I lost everything due to lack of sociality! I was permbanned from ZDoom forums, I was tempbanned from most forums I join, and I still can't learnt due to that Damn Asperger!
uff I just.... will never... do it!
Because I can't
oops, you're right @DanPantry :P

Oi, @Gustavo6046, you here?

sim
yes*, I mean

@Gustavo6046 First of all, let me say that you have very good English skills for being 15 years old, and from Brazil.

thanks, but who told you my age? I mean, not my age?

I have chatted with Brazilians before who are about 10 years older than you but who has much worse English skills.

@Gustavo6046 Your age is displayed on a certain SO page.

facepalm at least I should remind myself COPPA doesn't affect Brazilians
so I keep calm

@Gustavo6046 Whether or not COPPA affects you is irrelevant. COPPA only applies to children under the age of 13.

And you're over the age limit of 13, so don't worry about that at all.

@DanPantry and only applies to North-americans as much as I know.

I don't have aspergers, @Gustavo6046, but I hope I can give you some friendly advice anyway.

6:27 PM
I have been joining websites with my age... because COPPA is only a North American law!

@Gustavo6046 It applies to anyone internationally if the website can be reasonably deduced to be targetted at american users.
So it affects you as well.
Or, rather, it would.

Are you suggesting that your real age is below 13?

Nope!

okay can we move on from COPPA nonsense?

6:28 PM
yes
:)

Zak
NARL - but isn't it more COPPA applies to any website based/operating under American jurisdiction?

@Zak shhh we can talk about that later

I have one thing to do.... brb

the Stack Exchange Terms of Service apply anyway

I will check other forums

6:29 PM
psst - SE sites are not forums
4

In fact, @Gustavo6046, you gave yourself some advice when you said "so I keep calm". I think that is one of the things you want to focus on. I can understand that you are new to Code Review site and want to show off your code and have a lot of enthusiasm, but try to keep calm.

I also checked Wikipedia
According to it, It applies to the online collection of personal information by persons or entities under U.S. jurisdiction from children under 13 years of age and I am not under U.S. jurisdiction.
not that I am under 13, of course

ok great

Also, I'd like to encourage you to develop your social skills IRL as well. I can understand that it is not something you want to do considering how people may have reacted to you in the past, but at least adequate social skills is an extremely important skill in life - even more important than programming, I'd say. Try to find a place or a group where you can feel relaxed, whether it's some kind of study group at school, or a church or other religious place, or a hobby group, or whatever.

^^^ +1111111
Not being able to develop my social skills really badly affected my life. I would not recommend neglecting them.

6:34 PM
I neglected to feed a fish once.
It was horrible.

I am always a loner at my school, but I have a near-friend who likes Minecraft and I always invite my other near-friends to my home, but they say they have something to do.

@Gustavo6046 That's fine. You can't force friendships.
Just as long as you're trying to get better at socialising and practicing, that's what matters.
I don't have any IRL friends at all, really, unless you count my colleagues.
But really, just chill out when you're on CR. I know from personal experience it's hard
But you don't need to prove yourself to anyone
2
Which is what it appears to me you're trying to do by constantly second guessing everything you say

I had to move away from all my IRL friends for this new job. The problem I now face is I have no friends up here, and I really don't like being friends with my coworkers. (So, now I face the dilemma: do I find a new job, or find new friends?)

And, also, while we're here to be supportive and friends and such
IMO we're not really the place to be looking for sympathy or support from with regards to you being banned from forums and whatever

Of course, we're not robots :-) We do have emotions. But some of the stuff you said in 2nd was a bit too.. personal.

I am determined to find friends! Btw, let's get off that depressive matter for a while? :)

now you're talking!

Does anyone know the origin of my avatar?

:-)
From the looks of it, MS paint

Zak
@Gustavo6046 Some articles I found really useful with learning how to function around/with other people

6:37 PM
@DanPantry lol

My avatar was done in GIMP for MemeGenerator.net as a try to make a famous meme. I only got downvotes in it XD
The theme was "Jobs biten the apple". I named the apple "Badstick Apple" as a reference to bad-ass.

Zak
That blog is genuinely fascinating on lots of other topics as well

We're not in that topic anymore, @Zak I though we were real talking now!

this is the Nth monitor

6:41 PM
@Gustavo6046 @Zak has experience with some of the stuff you're going through

there's no such thing as a topic :D

Even if we're not talking about the topics, I think those links would be useful for you.

I'm sure Zak does too, which is why he linked them
I have to go watch a film about someone having a sex change. AFK :-)

Zak
@Gustavo6046 The nth is something of a free-for-all (but still subject to "Be nice")

6:42 PM
@zak SO it is not "free-for-all" as in "deathmatch" XD
"so", not Stack Overflow, I put caps accidentally :)

Zak
No, more as in "Anything goes (within reason)"

@Gustavo6046 Personally, usually I am a lot of a computer's guy, don't see much friends on my free-time etc. But last week I was in Valencia for 5 days, with some people I'd definitely say are my friends (even though I only meet some of them like once a year), those were the best days of my life last year. Don't let just one part of your life define who you are.
Oh, and one more thing: Care about other people, stop caring what they think of you.

Zak
If you find those links useful, I can pull out a whole list of articles I've got bookmarked in a folder

wow people, that's very cool :)

What other people see of you is just one part of you, and it's more about their perspective of you than about actually you

6:43 PM
@SimonForsbergMcFeely you're very wise.
I wish someone had said this stuff to me ~7-8 years ago.
Actually, they probably did, and I just didn't listen

so wise you would put a tomato in a vegetable salad, knowing a tomato is a fruit :)

just call it a salad then ;-)

I will check Scratch, just a sec
ok

@DanPantry So is Sean Stephenson ;) (google him if you've never heard about him, quite an inspiration)
Oh, a TED video with him that I never have seen before!
> Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Philosophy is wondering if that means ketchup is a smoothie.

It is clear that, despite our biggest problems, being happy is a act of virtue and prestigium, and something that we can not ignore simply by facing down to the fact. It is the biggest prize and ultimate objective of mankind, but it is easy enough for anybody.
-Gustavo Ramos Rehermann
And I am happy. Thanks to computers.
Btw I learnt English playing games.
Anybody?
And the briliant and quotable statement I done?

Zak
6:52 PM
@SimonForsbergMcFeely I've never seen the philosophy bit before.

@Gustavo6046 that's kinda the default :/
same goes for me mostly. video games and lots of reading english books over and over and over

No, the first phrase
"It is clear that ..."

oh that one...
well... yes.

@SimonForsbergMcFeely oh wow, I totally failed to get it haha

Mr Mug, did you saw me quoting myself?
Vogel did

6:59 PM
@Gustavo6046 you are aware that this chat is public transcript?

ops

so... yes and everyone else also saw :)

I normally thinks that someone listens to me when they respond, that's my logic

@Gustavo6046 Question: Does it matter what we think about your statement?

I want to know if it's good
if it is intelligent, beautiful, deserves being quoted

7:01 PM
@Zak Facebook turned out to be good for something.

again and again
Oh wait, Facebook! Great idea!

19 mins ago, by Simon Forsberg McFeely
Oh, and one more thing: Care about other people, stop caring what they think of you.

What they think of my statement, not myself

Good :)
It's an okay statement. Probably not one I will quote myself though.
I feel that it might be possible to shrink it down a bit. It may seem more complicated than it needs to be. Quotable things are often simple, not complicated.
@Gustavo6046 Why do I get the feeling that you get easily distracted by things?

Because I am a distracted and a person with little attention to stuff around me. That's probably why I often fail in FPS! XD
Shooters*

7:06 PM
@Gustavo6046 so you're more a strategic type?
or is it generally hard to focus your attention?

I am better suiting in Age of Empires 2

I'm so bad at the AoE series...

I can give advice.
Where do you think you fail more at Age of Empires 2?

micro... resource gathering and exploration.. doing multiple things at once and keeping track
I can get up to three or four things done in parallel, when I got a single screen with full zoom as in Supreme Commander
make it 5 with a second screen
but I'm really bad at minimaps for strategic games :/

1. what is micro?
2. resource gathering is easy, get a ton of villagers and assign them to gather resources (builders are not many required)
3. train it by cooking difficult stuff so you can improve your multitask ability like I did :3

7:11 PM
@Gustavo6046 cooking difficult stuff isn't as hard as multi-tasking
micro is management of multiple units, especially in fight situations to use each to their fullest.

We could play at the same team against an AI player so I could teach you important stuff where I perceive you fail it.
If only I knew how to play online :/

meh. aside from that I didn't get any sleep last night, so that'd be a bad idea
at least for tonight

what about now?

and probably for tomorrow night as well, got university the whole day

nevermind
for now look for a Age of Empires guide online
I gtg now
bye ppl
