Q: Manage repetitive/similar structures (logging & try/catch blocks)

lapdoggoI'm writing a web bot using puppeteer and I'm logging (using winston) every action the bots does and running it inside try/catch blocks. For automating these processes and avoid code repetition I created this function: module.exports = { webAction: async function (logger, msg, func, ...args) ...

Please take the tour and read How to Answer. We aren't supposed to take questions here that are general code review or a debugging request; it's not your job to find things in the code to improve, but to answer a question about a problem that was clearly identified already. (Also, you missed one of the logical errors.) — Karl Knechtel 24 secs ago

Q: UriValidator (+ tests)

SergeyMy last project shared here was apparently too complex so I figured I'd share something really simple Here's a UriValidator. Its purpose is to validate URI paths and schemes. Admittedly, one would expect it to validate entire URIs too, but I didn't need it, and SchemeAndPathValidator was too clum...

If you are asking for people to review your code, maybe it is more appropriate to post on code review. — Abra 21 secs ago

Q: JavaScript: Retry wrapper for the fetch-API

AmaterasuI know there are many good libraries for this, but to understand the issue better, here is my own basic attempt. The fetch will be retried if it fails with a promise rejection or the response indicates a server error. It assumes that GET, PUT, etc. are idempotent, like they should be. function re...

Thanks. The real problem I am trying to solve is based on this article - codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/236433/…. I need to call the WorksheetFunction.Filter function with a string of >255 chars. I have a UDF that dynamically creates the code for the FILTER function, but i cannot execute it normally due to the 255 char limit in VBA calling excel functions via Works sheetFunction call. So I cannot use the method described in the link earlier I am stuck. — Mark just now

Q: Arduino OOP: Getting Buttons To Work with OLED screen

Jay JayI have written an OLED program whose intention is to drive a menu system. The code compiles correctly, but my problem is with button detection. In the Oled.cpp file, you can see that I have created a condition which should detect the press of the up button and then move the cursor accordingly. Ru...

This would be a better answer if it were not predicated with an opinion that doesn't fit with some commonly used & widely embraced architecture styles, as other comments have pointed out. The technical answer is helpful. Even though you expressed the opinion as your opinion (thank you for that), it would be better to move it toward the end and clarify that there are opposing views on the matter, or even better, to just remove it altogether and fight that battle on the code review forums if desired. — Eric H 18 secs ago

It's unlikely we can make a meaningful suggestion from this incomplete code snippet. And arguably the question isn't on topic for SO anyway. This would be a better fit for codereview.stackexchange.com but make sure to give them enough code for them to answer the question - they'll require working code even if it's just a minimal implementation it has to be complete and runnable. — erik258 24 secs ago
@alagner, if you like performance challenges, you might find interesting my research on Incremental upper bound in sorted range. Feel free to step in with you ideas and research approaches. Some days later I will come with another one (working on text parser which should benefit from multi-threading); if you like, I will share the link for collaboration. :) — Damir Tenishev 52 secs ago

Welcome to Stack Overflow! If this is otherwise working code, you may be looking for Code Review instead. Please see A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users as these communities have different standards and guidelines and your question may need some changes when posting there. To learn more about this community and how we can help you, please start with the tour and read How to Ask and its linked resources. — David 28 secs ago
If you want help with a bug, you're at the right place, but you need to clearly specify what problem you're seeking help with. If you don't know if you have a problem, you're asking too soon and need to do more testing. If you've tested your code and it works and are looking for improvements, that's a job for our sister site Code Review. I've linked to Code Review's asking questions help pages. You need to read these documents before asking there if you want to have a good user experience. — user4581301 58 secs ago

Q: Truncating/abbreviating strings in the middle with an ellipsis (…) (or other) separators with a fixed character limit

rklecProblem For some user-facing string, I want to truncate it to some given maximum length (also useful for file name/path lengths on Windows etc.). However, I want to do it a little more elaborately than just appending ... or … or so at the end, as I want to place that character in the middle. I.e....

Q: Can you give me example code for this

Mohamed AnasThis is a StringUtils class, not RegexUtils. Therefore, I would expect all of the searchStrings to be taken literally. You must quote each of the searchStrings when composing your regex. For figuring out which replacement string goes with which search string, it might be better to use a HashMap<S...
