@Mast That's why backwards compatibility is so awesome. Less confusing when you read the docs for the wrong version of the language.

@Gary, you've already asked an off topic question and received comments which should help you write some code. If you want specific help beyond that, you need to edit your question, add that code, (formatting it using the {} button), then properly explain the issue you are having with that code. If you just want your code reviewing, or expact it to be rewritten for you to improve its efficiency you've come to the wrong site. — Compo 29 secs ago

@t3chb0t I would go a step further and suggest that: (a) the post is deleted entirely and (b) the user is given a strong warning about site policy and politeness and (potentially) a temporary suspension.
Thanks @Vogel612

@t3chb0t your best course of action in these cases is to not engage with the user. Instead just flag for mod-attention
6
normal users are not equipped to deal with rollback-wars. Additionally while it may be satisfying, please don't engage with rude users, just flag them
7

@Vogel612 I agree... it was already too late after I realized there is the flag button and didn't expect OP to rollback the rollback in a loop

I concur as well. Apologies for engaging when I should have just left it to a moderator.

You're saying that the code will always terminate within 1.1 seconds?

yes, it's just to simulate a progress bar
but i wanted to know if there was a better way to do that sort of thing
and what a vile response on this site

@user875234 It's not deleted. Did you take a look at the help center?

9:26 PM
@Mast please let me handle this :)
@user875234 let's take a step back: You're saying that you're simulating a progress bar that's not really doing anything?

it's making sure the progresds bar works. i need to check that on three different platforms. so yes,m it is functional code
nice try though

see, that makes much more sense
Okay let's include this as context in your question.

the core of the question is simply if there is a better way to call a task repeatedly. in the question i did it line by line, in the valid answer which downvoted three times and then deleted i did it with a for loop, but i suspect there is a better way of doing it
at this point im more here to express my anger with the vile response i recieved from this community
for asking a valid question

note that code-only answers are generally subject to deletion here. They do not provide an "insightful observation" about the code in the question. For all we know, they're a new user asking for a review of their own code that incidentally solves the same problem
@user875234 hum. understandable.
Look at it from our perspective: Without the context of what this code is meant to achieve it really looks like it's an example, doesn't it?

yes, i suppose it does

9:34 PM
I have now reopened the question (since my edit does not seem to have bumped it into the reopen queue)

That's a really interesting way of quickly defining elements without repeating selectors and variable names. Might post this on codereview, it's much more suited to questions about "is this good practice". — CertainPerformance 33 secs ago

Q: Heterogenous persistent list in Rust

maxcountrymanI have implemented a basic, but seemingly working, persistent (as in immutable), heterogenous list type in Rust. Here's the code: #[derive(Debug)] pub enum ConsCell<'a> { Char(char), Number(u64), String(&'a str), } pub struct PersistentList<'a, T: 'a> { first: Option<&'a T>, ...

@EthanBierlein It's a whole lot of gibberish, so UWYA fits just the same.

Fair point.

Every once in a while, you encounter a question to which the first response is "you didn't even try".

This piece of software I'm working with truncates comments in the middle. So you see the first part, the last part, and the rest is left out.

Since you have a working code and you're asking about best practices, your question is off topic here at S.O. (both too broad and a bit opinion based), but it is perfect for Code Review. However, if you decide to ask this there, please first read their instructions, since asking there is quite different from asking here: you have to put your whole code (both JS files) in the question, together with the HTMLs. — Gerardo Furtado 58 secs ago
Problems fundamentally caused by typos should be flagged as off-topic, not answered. StackOverflow isn't CodeReview — CertainPerformance 59 secs ago
Also, when posting on Code Review, example code is not acceptable. You'll have to show the real deal or the answers won't help you much. — Mast 7 secs ago
