@Maljam Questions containing code that does not work as intended are off-topic for Code Review. Please read A Guide To Code Review for Stack Overflow Users to avoid making inappropriate recommendations. Furthermore, a desire to see a question moved to another site is not a sufficient justification for ruling a question off-topic on Stack Overflow — please stick to bona fide reasons for closure. — 200_success 27 secs ago

@linusg As I read this question, "Stopping input until the cycle starts (I tried it with a delayed print of the first words and if i tried to type something getch() took it as an input)" means that it is requesting a change of what the program does, which unfortunately makes this off-topic on Code Review. — Simon Forsberg just now

@SimonForsberg Not much. Spending more time playing team lead and improving processes than coding. Hopefully that changes soon. Of course, that will involve teaching our new lead that Agile != Scrum. He's terribly confused by Kanban.

@SimonForsberg You're a Simon, isn't that enough?

@Mast good point.
@RubberDuck Ah, I haven't experienced Kanban at work yet, but there's been some talk about switching to that instead of Scrum.

I'm confused by project management in general.
I can do OK as long as I have time to puzzle through it, but I did pretty rotten on my last couple exams.

4:28 PM
Scrum can work, but it can also slow you down when done improperly. Just like any tactic really.
Kanban doesn't hurt as much IMO.

@SimonForsberg I've been doing it since before I knew it had a name. I would recommend adding it on top of Scrum if that's what you're doing now. Eventually, you should be able to drop many of the scrum rituals entirely.

A: Where is the value in walking the board with a detailed task board?

RubberDuckIt sounds to me like you've found the one of the beautiful things about Kanban. The work is so visible, that you've made part of your process irrelevant. Congratulations, you've leaned out your process and removed some overhead. Well, you almost have. You've not done away with the overhead yet,...

Big corporations install process to make sure that time is well spent. If you had less process, you'd get more done over all even if you get less done per time spent doing.

Lúcio CardosoI've just made this program and I want to know how to improve it. It just receives a word and prints it backwards. @nhgrif I assume you're talking about some kind of program and not about the language? I can't find it on the wiki.

6:25 PM
Huh

@nhgrif That's the problem corporations fall into. Agile isn't a process that you just install. It's a mindset more than anything. An agile (little "a") team will reduce their process down to only what they need.
Went to a conference recently, and that "We're doing Agile because we have daily status updates and timebox" attitude is pervasive and extremely damaging.

It's frustrating because I work for a company that has good & minimal processes, but a client that is very much so opposite.

@nhgrif Ain't that the rub?
When your client is still working in a waterfall mindset, what do you do? (Rhetorical question)

6:51 PM
@RubberDuck Go down in a barrel.

If I go for 24 hours without marking something dev complete, I get accused of taking a waterfall approach... The irony

@nhgrif Are you for real? Some things take a few days to check in, especially when you factor in any meetings you might have.
