@BESW @trogdor one thing we discussed much earlier on was the idea that there might be a whole lot of plants helping to maintain the living environment of the ship - clean air among other things.

yes

and Stellata in control of those. that way, if I took Babbage out for a spin, we could have a reason for Stellata to be off in NPC land.

BESW and I conversed about how that might mean that the PC's, or even specifically Stelata, might be inadvertently growing Dr Light a new body

oh my :D

as an example of what could happen
not as a thing we have already decided we wanted
as a point of fact, even if that is what is happening, no one will know until the DRYH session is over, at the very least
well, characters I mean

3:01 AM
@doppelgreener Go on.

player may or may not know

@BESW Stellata could be getting kept up by the sheer amount of maintenance work. Something is making everything a lot harder to maintain than it should be, but if it doesn't stay maintained, everyone dies.
(with handwaving as to what, potential reasons being the lumineferous aether, doctor light, etc)

That sounds fun.
Would "finding out what's making things harder and fixing it" be her goal, then?

there could be more than one reason, and they could be connected or not

@BESW that sounds like a good goal :D
@trogdor mmhm :)

3:05 AM
I'm planning to start everyone with 1 or 2 Exhaustion dice already, because that's recommended for one-shots.

it could equally be someone forgot a decimal place when running the life support calculations that (newly) involved plants controlled by a plant lady

3:47 AM
I think that explanation is ok but possibly kinda boring compared to the others we could use
though it could be amusing if our PC's find someone to blame for it

4:07 AM
@trogdor of course! and it doesn't necessarily even have to be true that they messed up :)

but what does that mean if no one actually messed up?
scientific laws just work differently in deeper space?
deeper as in further than any person has actually gone before

well we are in the deep lumineferous aether, anything could happen.
something else could be interfering. areas of deep dark matter might be a bit strange compared to what we're used to.

that is what I mean
