Can we nominate other people besides ourselves? Many of the better people on the philosophy SE are by nature reticent in their personalities and will nominate themselves. I know of at least 2 people that would be good moderators and I would like to nominate but they have not nominated themselves
@Not_here @ElliranH @YechiamWeiss @GeoffreyThomas why not nominating yourselves? There is still time left!
@SwamiVishwananda: I would suggest to ping them here and prompt them to nominate themselves. It is certainly not perfect, but better than having the opportunity go by without trying
@PhilipKlöcking those pings don't work, since the users have not been in this chat room. Did you ping them elsewhere as well? It would be really good to have some more candidates...
I don't have the temperament to be a fair and balanced moderator lmao. Specifically, I don't think that I would be fair to people who come to the site and have a heavily implicit attitude of being anti academia or anti western culture and whom ask questions that might seem benign on a completely neutral reading but given the context seem to heavily lean towards criticizing the current institution on philosophy in what I see as asinine ways (but there are of course fair criticism of academia).
I think that it would be doing a disservice to the community as a whole if I were to be a moderator because I know that I wouldn't handle those situations positively
@Not_Here Well, nobody is truly impartial and I think your contributions on meta often are good ones, but I surely respect if you think yourself to be a bad fit for the position. Self-reflexion isn't really a bad sign, btw ;)
