While I agree that "Divide and choose" works when it's about cutting something in half, it might not work as well when there a number of different tasks to distribute. For example, one partner might hate doing the dishes but not mind vacuuming, and for the other it might be the other way around. That needs to be considered when dividing the tasks, which means you're already deciding which partner is more likely to take which "half" at that point. —
