@AndrasDeak some years ago, I think this actually happened in Shadow's den, I told @shadow I didn't like the term "brony" because it was applied to too many different meaning, without a real notion of cause.
Looking at this article, you can clearly understand what I mean.
Every fandom has multiple sides, and bad content is everywhere.
MLP... you can clearly see this.
you have people that create content like Snowdrop (a fan made 20min episode about a blind pony and her struggles to be accepted) and people who create "content" like Cupcakes (a creepypasta story about.... murder and torture from what I know).
@DroidDev Brony -> Brother Pony. A term that the fandom created to describe a male MLP fan. Pegasister follows the same rule. Often used in denigratory form by haters, I personally don't use the term much but was wondering the reaction it would cause.
@Derpy yeah, sorry, I should've been more specific. I meant mlp-related fora rather than mlp enthusiasts; I suspect there's a difference. The article I mentioned talks about 4chan boards specifically.
(e.g. like "homo" - created in order to degrade others? I really have no idea about the origins of neither to be honest, just using something very familiar and very degrading)
@ShadowWizardWearingMask was that smart user that somehow managed to evade all flags about homophobia, discrimination and such, and was also ignored when reported via "contact us" and by direct mail to a (undisclosed for privacy) community manager?
mind you, probably those are rotten apples in a larger group, but the problem is that probably there is no watch dog there. Anyway.... if you don't mind, I would call for a topic change.
At least I see those as a different kind of problem. On one hand you have sleazy money-siphoning official merch, and then whatever you have, you have knock-offs too. The latter is not too specific to the industry and is probably mostly avoidable if you use mainstream sources. Or so I imagine, I don't have any figurines whatsoever.
Well, even if we forget about the fact that they are unlicensed and therefore they shouldn't be sold, the point is that the buyer often can't tell them apart easily so they could be tricked into buying a fake at full price.
@AndrasDeak please notice that Twilight is actually dressed as "Lestat" from the Vampire Chronicles and there is no character from "Twilight" (the book, not the pony) in there.
Well, I could do with a position that causes less stress/troubles. But changing to a remote position that will be revoked in a month or two would be shooting myself in the foot.
I wouldn't expect laws to protect companies that thinks of they (human) resources as packages that you can send on trips like they have no life.
I work to live. I don't live to work.
If I can also get a work I like that's a plus.
But I am not a slave building a pyramid.
Yet, "modern workplace" is a synonym of business trip, required extra time as needed, extra-course for learning credits you have to do in your spare time, can be called-back during work-off day if required and so on
@Andras @Derpy I wonder, do governments at your place give compensation for those who lost their jobs due to CorVid19? Here we got just a kick in our [censored].
(well not me personally, but that's just luck.)
The irony is that our government is brand new, elected during Corona and was built with clear goal to fight Corona, and it's doing exactly the opposite, in all aspects.
@Derpy and people with no money and/or job also became "past"? :(
Media here keeps bringing examples of awesome plans and governments giving people all they need, but guess they just collect some "best examples" from over the world.
(media here is trying to take our PM down for over a decade.)
@ShadowWizardWearingMask what do you have against corvids?
Our country had something about wages... I never paid enough attention to know the details. I think it was aimed at employers, not employees. But there were some citizen-facing steps too, such as putting a hold on evictions and personal bank loan interests
And making it easier to buy your medication with a prescription
@ShadowWizardWearingMask look... the mayor of my city... a border city, with big problems related to that (we already have BIG problems with illegal immigration, now put that on top of COVID).... you know what is his top plan for now? Building a gondola lift.
During a world level pandemic... he is thinking about a gondola lift. This is the big announcement he did on live broadcast on the regional TV channel about... a month ago?
Kudos for the comments he got live since they also had live Send-your-SMS
Sometime I think that a potted plant would do a better job than many of our actual politicians
also in this version the girls aren't actually a result of an experiment and thus artificially created. The experiment just made a big explosion that gave the girls super powers.
