Q: truncated sha3-512

Kuba ChrabańskiLet's say I need performance on 64-bit machine, then SHA3-512 is the way to go. SHA-512/256(x) is SHA-512(x) with output truncated to 256 bits, according to https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/hash/sha512.html Let H1(x) be SHA-512/256(SHA-512(SHA-512(x))) Let H2(x) be SHA-256(SHA-51...

Silliness of iterating SHA3-512 aside, there is essentially no reason to ever use SHA3-512 in the first place; it pays a huge performance penalty for political reasons around NIST's prior mistakes in 2013.
Even SHA3-256 is silly; either SHAKE128-256 or SHAKE256-256 is a more reasonable choice for that shape, depending on whether you think you need a major hedge against future modest breakthroughs in cryptanalysis.

SHA3-256 is silly because NIST the selected c=n=512 instead of c=n=256. And we don't consider the Brassard work due to the almost impossibility of the required q-bits.
cryto.com and now chesworkshop.org gone blockchain.

Q: Do organizations like NSA use racial profiling in the screening process?

kyarysome sources seem to indicate that they do: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-12-10/the-u-s-government-s-mistrust-of-chinese-americans I realize this is a sensitive question. I'm a second-generation Chinese-American deciding whether or not to pursue cryptography. Among other things, I ...

Q: Is the security of a Schnorr signature dependent on the hash function that is used?

CCSWhen a Schnorr signature is created, the number $r$ is concatenated with the message to produce a new value which is then hashed to give a number represented by $e$. The number $e$, accompanied by some other data that is used during validation, will then be sent over to a signature verifier. The ...

Dan CormierUpdate: This was rolled out on all network sites December 7, 2021. After receiving and incorporating feedback the community (thank you!) we’ve launched the responsive Activity page! The most common feedback we received was that we’re straying too far from a summary for the summary view. This feed...
