@CodesInChaos I agree we might indeed want to fine-tune that close reason, especially since it actively contradicts one of our tags:
> About reference-request

> A reference request is a request to be provided with (links to) documentation, official papers, and specs related to one or more specific algorithms or cryptographic procedures, to provide a trusted base for what's being said or written.

> For example:

> If someone would issue a reference request for details on a part of the internal functionality of SHA3 (also known as KECCAK), it would be logic to point them to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-3 — "Wikipedia: SHA-3"](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-3) for the more general information and — even more impor
Maybe a simple rename into “personal opinions” would already do it? As in: “Requests for personal opinions are off-topic here, as they tend to be to diverse to be useful.” Not sure if that´ld cover all related situations though…
@mikeazo What´s your take on the “reference request” close reason?

@e-sushi There already is a default close reason for "primarily opinion-based"
@CodesInChaos We could get rid of that close reason altogether and add a new, different one for StackOverflow.
