@Fabby Just in case you are around. Now after doing mkfs it still doesn't work...
(cannot mount)
I repeated the same process.
Ah, it mounted.

4:40 AM
It seems if I mount it in readonly mode I get access to more files.
mount -o ro /dev/sdc2 /mnt/ssd-copy

10 hours later…
2:47 PM
I'm back too.
Do you need any more help @IonicăBizău

3:37 PM
@Fabby So, I copied the files on another HDD, installed Ubuntu 18.04 on the laptop's SSD (the one I had problems with), installed Dropbox, and brought the things back.
What I'd need is to check if the SSD is permanently damaged and if so, how much of it.

2 hours later…
6:03 PM
@IonicăBizău sudo apt install smartmontools
ping me as I'm in another chat room with another user

1 hour later…
7:18 PM
Vodafone Romania. @io

Ah, nice :)
I use internet on phone from them

OK, so how are the files, because we still have testdisk up our sleeve.
@IonicăBizău :D :D :D

Didn't check yet. Will do in the morning.

Small world!!!
OK, cool,

It's critical to import the MySQL databases.
Have something interesting there.

7:19 PM
I should be available tomorrow-morning

But I have backups for those, tho, which are a bit older.

Ah!

You can leave some commands here to let me know what to do.
Will wake up early.

so do you want to continue tomorrow or today?

In about 7 hours.
You can give me some links to existing answers, which you think may help

7:20 PM
well, to know whether the SSD Drive is failing:

But, you helped me so much.

sudo apt install smartmontools

Right

sudo smartctl --scan

Ah, cool!

7:21 PM
then for your disk:

Btw, when I installed 18.04, I created three partitions: / (20GB), /home (the rest) and swap (17GB).

sudo smartctl --all /dev/XdY
where X and Y are whatever the scan came up with.

Coolio!

post output here and I'll tell you if it's dying or not.

Thanks!

7:23 PM
Bonna Notte!
Bonne nuit!
Shoo!

See you!
