Yes?

Hey @Mast and @Zeta. Are you two interested in being RO in The 2nd Monitor?
RO = Room Owner

@SimonForsberg Sure.

Nothing special really, just the possibility to move crap and stuff.

Any responsibilities?

I know. I volunteered years ago should it ever become necessary.

6:32 PM
Or rather: any requirements?

@Zeta Not anything you have to do really. Just the possibility to manage feeds and move messages.
You are not required to be in the room any more than you already are.
Just act normal. And use the Room Owner tools if needed.

That's reasonable. And it's probably not a problem if I'm away for a week or two.

RO's have 4 significant things -
1. ability to move messages
2. ability to pin messages
3. ability to kick people
4. italic names (and the glory that comes with that).

@Zeta Definitely not a problem.

@Zeta lead by example. Gently keep the room on track and be a positive influence to the community.
soo ... same as always, just with a slightly expanded toolkit to deal with ugly situations

Got it.

@Zeta @Mast you might be interested in the guide to moderating chat. Gives a nice overview of the tools you got now and what being a room owner entails

Was the 2nd monitor ever in timeout?

Yes.
I think.
During the black page period possibly.

@Zeta I remember only one occasion...

Q: How much idle chatter do we tolerate in The 2nd Monitor?

MastRelated but not a duplicate: How far off-topic can we get in 'the 2nd monitor'? Today was a complicated day in the history of The 2nd Monitor. On one side there appears to be consensus something went wrong which should be handled. On the other side there appears to be disagreement about how muc...

at that moment it was not terribly effective, because half the people talking were RoomOwners
@Mast that was a freeze, actually...

@Vogel612 Right. Timeouts aren't used much I guess, but I've seen moderators freeze rooms every so often. Q&A sessions come to mind.
A timeout is essentially a freeze with a timer and a notification IIUC.

with the notable difference that timeouts do not affect room owners

Right.
