@MoreAnonymous is it possible to talk to him directly in person? In the sense of 'I had these questions and this is how I solved them - does this make sense?' Instead of 'so I have this thing I haven't talked about before that I want to publish!' Like, if I want to publish something, I don't go to my supervisor with a ' is this publishable?'
Rather, I give the context (what's the problem/what could be improved etc.), briefly explain what I did and why I did it that way, mention anything else I've got that's related, then he'll say something about doing an experiment, ways he thinks it could be furthered or improved, how important he thinks it is, if it's worth spending more time on, if it's thesis material, or something to put as a paper or as a part of a paper
Like, I've got a couple of things that there's nothing wrong with, just that the effort of writing, editing and publishing is best put into other stuff, so they either get slotted into a related paper, or I'll just put them in my thesis
