@Wipqozn Looks like I won't be finishing Oathbringer tonight. The children were uncooperative.
DALINAR THOUGH HOLY SHIT

2 hours later…
2:12 AM
@StrixVaria gosh darn teenagers
@StrixVaria ALSO HOLY CRAP I KNOW
That scene was so awesome

14 hours later…
4:03 PM
@StrixVaria THink you'll finish it today?

@Wipqozn Just finished it, but about to head out to see my sister, so I can't discuss yet :(

@StrixVaria :(

One quick note, though. I'm pretty sure Honor and Cultivation were the first two shards on Roshar, and the humans brought Odium with them. Now humans worship Honor and Odium is trying to lead the Parshendi to get their lands back, so things are all jumbled and I'm sure there are more twists behind Odium's motivation to come in future books.

@StrixVaria yeah I'm pretty sure that's correct
There's three worlds in the Roshar system... one of them is devasted, which is where humans came from. The other Braize, is supposedly where Odium actually resides and is where the heralds go when they die.

Oh yeah, and the humans call that Damnation.

4:14 PM
Yup

So in addition to being 3 dimensions, there are actually 3 planets each of which presumably have 3 dimensions.
Plus there's some pretty fucking heavy crossover with Warbreaker.
Which is another world.
Anyway, I actually have to go head out the door now.
Later!

Honor and Cultivation were definitely there first. Odium was going around killing other shards before he showed up in Roshar. It sound like he's actually been trapped there for a long time now.
@StrixVaria yeah I'm really liking the warbreaker crossover tbh
@StrixVaria toodles
I was really happy that Shallan chose ADolin in the end. Shallan and Kaladin just felt like it wouldbe too cliched to be honest... I really like shallan and adolin

6 hours later…
10:42 PM
Sanderson is an all around cool dude
He really is just a huge geek that hit it big with his writing

10:55 PM
@Wipqozn I'm really not liking that :(

@StrixVaria yeah I know, which sucks

That and Shallan's overall personality issue this book were my biggest issues.
And they were both fairly minor.
Also, Dalinar said the words of the Fifth Ideal. It was never explicitly stated but I'm fairly confident I'm right. When he said "I am Unity." The skybreakers, earlier, were talking about how the fifth skybreaker ideal made you law itself.
So by extension I think Bondsmiths being "unity itself" makes a ton of sense.

@StrixVaria that makes a lot of sense
Honestly might reread that scene where he's all 'screw you odium, you're not my dad'

His ability to just create a perpendicularity is pretty handy.

@StrixVaria extremely handy.
Interesting that he had some new abilities too

11:08 PM
When he first said "I am Unity" I was like "wait, is that a shard, or is that like a combination of shards like Harmony?"

Compared to past bondsmiths

But then I got a little further and realized it's the words.
@Wipqozn How do we know?

@StrixVaria storm father said so

The Stormfather wasn't "alive" the last time there were bondsmiths, so he has an in-universe reason to not know all their powers IIRC.
I thought they were just discovering them together.
Also I need to know what the third spren is that can make a Bondsmith.

I'm just out on my phone so I can't grab a quote, but he does say some of what dalinar did was new

11:10 PM
Interesting.

@StrixVaria we'll probably learn more about it in the next book

@Wipqozn :|

@StrixVaria it's only 3 years away!
3 long torturous years

Honestly, I've just become numb due to grrm and Patrick routhus
So 3 years means nothing now
Especially since I know Sanderson will actually finish
@StrixVaria also I'm assuming azure blade is another night blood
Can't remember the exact name for it
Type iv something or other

11:18 PM
@Wipqozn I think so but she had squires as well, didn't she?
Everyone in her army was lighteyes and I think it was heavily implied that it was because she was a "Radiant" and they were here squires, like Kaladin with bridge four.

@StrixVaria hmm maybe

Also if it is an awakened blade I really want to know what command it was given.

We'll probably find out more in warbreaker 2...which I think is supposed to happen before the next storm light?
I should really reread warbreaker
I really liked adolin in this book too
I feel Sanderson characters have improved a lot in this one

Yeah his characters are definitely getting better.
I think I'll reread Warbreaker sometime in 2018.
It's still my favorite Sanderson book.

Same
