I will need to take a close look at the book once again. It has been almost two years since I last read the book. When I do this, I will surely get back to you @GeorgeChen.

@GeorgeChen To some extent it is true. However, I think that he does this because the intended audience of the book is beginners in proof-based mathematics (probably someone who has never encountered such proof-based course, e.g., algebra before) and so he sacrifices the logical ordering of the material to pedagogy.

His very first definition (2.1.1) is intolerable. Chapter 2 and 3 betray a lot of muddleheadedness. If this habit of mind is permissible in today's math community, we can infer that a lot people in this community are not mathematicians at all. If you don't feel a strong aversion towards chapter 2 and 3, there is probably not much we can talk about Godel.
