@PaulWhite I have provided a second non-binding close vote.
@PaulWhite Wow, I didn't look closely enough to see that the cardinality of that join table was higher.

@JoeObbish it's a prequel. in earlier iterations of the Matrix, the graphics processing was a little less robust. that's why everyone looks about 15-20 years older

@JoshDarnell It gained 3 close votes before I closed it as a dupe.

@JoshDarnell Something seems not quite right about your site's https config
Images are http

@PaulWhite Well that's embarrassing.
I paid good money for that https.

I felt helpful pointing it out to you as a professional web developer

Josh is trying to steal your trace flags

His skills are flagging

not sure what that means

12:49 PM
Verb: flagging
  1. present participle of flag
Noun: flagging (plural flaggings)
  1. A pavement or sidewalk of flagstones; flagstones, collectively.
  2. The process by which something flags or tires.
  3. Joseph Addison
  4. That secret intoxication of pleasure, with all those transient flushings of guilt and joy, which the poet represents in our first parents upon their eating the forbidden fruit, to those flaggings of spirit, damps of sorrow, and mutual accusations which succeed it […]...

def 4?

very helpful thanks Wicktionary
definition 2
maybe a bit of 4
@JoshDarnell You're too good for Let's Encrypt?

@PaulWhite Haha the irony is not lost on me, database man.

no charge

My hosting provider is too good for Let's Encrypt.
At the time I was setting this up, I think there was no way to set up your own certs on GoDaddy shared hosting.

12:52 PM
what's the point of https for a blog? not like people are logging in?

That may have changed, but that's how I remember it =)

:^)

@JoshDarnell ah
Some providers do prefer you give them money for stuff

@PaulWhite It's a real racket. You have to pay them for it, and it's rather expensive. Compared to free, I mean.

I try not to associate with people who want money for things

12:54 PM
@JoeObbish If you're really wondering, Google changed their algorithm several months ago to seriously downrank sites that don't use HTTPS.

ah, so it's for vanity reasons

So being on HTTPS, even if there are no forms, is helpful for showing up in search results.
@JoeObbish :^)

A: SSL's (security) benefit to the website owner

drewbennIt prevents the ISP from injecting their own ads in place of your own. If you rely on advertising for revenue, https helps protect your revenue stream.

@PaulWhite That's a pretty good point

It's one I hadn't seen before
But I suppose the main benefit is not being humiliated in chat

Last paragraph, "Under the 2012+ cardinality estimator"
2014+ ?

Everyone forgets about 2014

it doesn't stay in memory for some reason

I'm sure we've all forgotten, well, heck, a ton of things

@Forrest 🤦‍♂️

@PaulWhite God damnit I was so close to that joke

1:36 PM
@George.Palacios Waiting on latches I guess?
@Forrest Fixed.

@JoshDarnell Latching on waits

@PaulWhite That was a good one, Gonghratz

2:40 PM
ads are evil
@JoshDarnell don't :^) me

3:40 PM
@JoeObbish (^: is that better?

oh boy

3:57 PM
@George.Palacios I'll let @Lamak answer this question on my behalf

@George.Palacios no, it isn't

I'm sensing some missing context here.
My application context is clearly wrong.

Yay, adding a new column to a table took us down

@Taryn damn. Big table?

@George.Palacios not really - 25 million rows with only 6 columns in the table currently

4:06 PM
Sounds like Votes!
Were you adding PostTypeId to it?
👀👀👀
Or are you soft deleting comments? 😭😭😭

Nope, PostMetadata new bit column

IsSOMetaEvenThisAttribute

@PeterVandivier 1
$false
Idk what the answer is

better rollback then

@PeterVandivier But there's a window behind me. Rollbacks in Windows never go well
😃😃😃

4:16 PM
Patch Tuesday --> Defenestration Wednesday

You and your fancy words
You misspelled Deforestation by the way

@ErikDarling I can just delete all the comments instead
that would make @PaulWhite's day

@Taryn I think the idea of comments that Paul deletes not actually being deleted is the worst part of that. For Paul.

4:32 PM
@Lamak Thank you, @Lamak
that's a lot of @ing
how's life?

Man. I just realized those calculations change if the stats are sampled vs full scan.
I'm going to have to update that post.
I was wondering what the boolean value passed into the function was.

That's nothing. I finally installed CTP 3.2 yesterday and the RC came out today

Let's all have a moment of silence for our productivity.

It seems weird to me that they still haven't announced accelerated plan forcing.

6:49 PM
I'm pretty sure that (<no parameter info>) is the new bane of my existence.

7:05 PM
@JoeObbish been quite busy lately, though I always make the time of coming here to try and learn things

7:56 PM
@PaulWhite vacation is ruining my life
