So... the answer to the question in the title is perfectly laid out as an anagram in the last line "I am an octopus". The key propulsion line (pre-edit) made it easy. Wikipedia then confirmed octopi are loners other than mating time.

yeah USACO competition is the placement test for the IOI...doesn't seem like that I'm that kind of person does it? lol I just like puzzling for fun :P

hmm the bloody guy is still sitting upright so maybe the kill was recent, and if I were to kill someone
I would want to leave as quickly as possible without causing too much suspicion so I would buy something
first, and the store clerk's posture is bad so it would be hard for her to run from the murder scene back
to her seat very fast, so it shouldn't be her, and it's not the guy who's picking out clothes because
