Q: How should I respond to questions asked before being allowed to enter the United States?

Britany WatsonI want to travel to Florida for 3 days, just for a party. If CBP officers ask me the purpose of my visit, and how long I plan to stay, is it safe to tell them the truth, that I am traveling for an event, it's a 3-day stay, from Friday to Monday? Reason why I asked because I spent 4 months in the...

What's the alternative? It's certainly not safe to lie.

What alternative?
I just wanna know if I should say traveling for a party or traveling for an event

Tell the truth. You are travelling for a party - calling it an event may make it seem like you are making it sound more important or official than it is. Unless this party has a fixed guest list with issued tickets, speakers etc...
I've flown to the US from the UK for a three day visit before, and I had no issues.

Reason why I asked because I spent 4 months in the us and will be returning after 5 months in my own country .

@Moo "Party" is a bit of a loaded word. A "music event", "concert", "wedding", "to see X perform" (or whatever is appropriate here) would all be truthful and less loaded.

@jpatokal only if it is any of those things. I'm not the one who introduced the word "party" here, the OP is - if that's what it is, then that's what you tell the border officer.

Truthfully.....

There is no reason not to tell the truth.

@BritanyWatson Reason why I asked because I spent 4 months in the us and will be returning after 5 months in my own country This does not bring any clarification to the question. I see no 'reason' here. What is going on and/or what are you thinking/fearing?

What am I fearing? I’m fearing that they might think im returning soon

@BritanyWatson it is unclear where you're from, but as long as you have the right papers and don't exceed the maximum amount of days for your papers, you can come back for as many parties as you'd like.

As long as you can demonstrate an enduring connection to your home country (house, family, job), can demonstrate that you can support yourself during your stay and afford your trip(s), and will not be entering for criminal purposes or to work illegally - frequency of trips is probably not going to be an issue. Certainly not on the second visit. There are many travelers who will frequently enter for leisure or business. The only issue would be if your reason for entry was inconsistent with the frequency and location of visits and it was suspected you were lying.

"I'm visiting friends for the weekend" may also be a more neutral (yet truthful) way to state it, assuming that it's the truth and the party isn't something similar to Burning Man.

@mdiener its a b1/b2 visa.

@mdiener I was thinking of visa free entry for Canadian citizens. Will delete as I can't edit now.

I'd go with "Leisure."

Literally just answer the question? You're overthinking it.

Be a bit circumspect about how you answer questions about what goes on at your "parties". cbc.ca/news/politics/pot-border-banned-waiver-1.3752278
