A: Cloning BitBucket in putty's SSH shell

galogetAbout your question: If the the Bitbucket Server base URL is https://bitbucket.librariesdsw.net and the SSH port is 8080, the SSH URL for the repository myRepo in the project myProject will be: git clone git@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/myProject/myRepo.git If using HTTP, then the command w...

Hi Mate, Thanks for your response. I still need some clarifications. if my repository name is ' My Digital project' and my project name is 'myproject', then to access bitbucket is ssh://git@bitbucket,librariesdsw.net:8080/My Digital project/myproject.git Please confirm this since you had given ssh://git@bitbucket.atlassian.com:8080 it should be atlassian or librariesdsw. Please confirm this and does it require quotes to enclose my digital project with many thanks bharath K
Hi Mate, In the address bar for the Chrome browser, assume it as bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/project/dswlib then in the ssh it should be as ssh://git@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/project/dswlib.git is it correct I had tried the same it is not working the key for the project is dswlib the project name is dsw lib. it has a space between dsw and lib but in browser it looks bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/project/dswlib there is a confusion between repository name project name and key name. in the ssh how it should provided and how distingush between repository and project in bitbucket
I understand project should have repositories. And Projects can contain many project, and key for each project, and project can contain repositories this is my understanding. I had tried all these option and combinations. it errors no such file or directory It has to ask for bitbucke password? it didnot ask for password. I am trying putty in windows to access ubuntu system. I am trying to clone bitbucket inside putty. Do I miss anything please clarify
SSH port is not 8080 it is bitbucket url port is 8080 then what port i have to use in ssh please help me kind regards bharath AK
Do I have to enable ssh in bitbucket add ssh key to it? please clarify

SSH by default uses 22 port, and please, one question at time. Here is the official documentation to Clone a Project in BitBucket
I am going to edit the answer and post an image to explain how you can get the SSH URL in BitBucket.

how to add an image to conversation. In My bit bucket there is no ssh. I am wondering how ssh is missing in my bit bucket, I am not able to attach a screen shot of mine. Could you please help me thanks bharath K

I saw your image here, and you have to go inside the project to get the URL.

clone has the following url Bharath@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.git it has http before start. it has my user name then how should be the ssh for eg: git clone ssh://git@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.git where should I use my username kind regards bharath

Nice! That's good, when you execute git clone ssh://git@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.git or git clone http://Bharath@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.gβ€Œβ€‹β€Œβ€‹it, the system is going to ask you for your username/password and then you can clone the project, that's it. :D

Thank you so much. It is now working I had tried using ssh but not working does it require ssh to be enabled to use ssh.

You have to configure your SSH keys to clone the project with SSH, but it's Ok to use the HTTPS option as an alternative.

@galoget The fact OP is trying to clone to a remote machine using SSH connection, does not imply SSH is needed to connect Bitbucket from the remote machine.

Ohhh, yeah, you're right @Melebius, I didn't see that before, I am going to update the answer, thanks!

Hi Mate, Thanks you it is working but git clone ssh://git@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.git is not working it throws error ssh_exchange_identification: connection closed by remote host fatal:could not read from remote repository. but Bharath@bitbucket.librariesdsw.net:8080/scm/dsw/dsw.git is working and prompting for password and clones the source code from git. I think ssh is not enabled by administrator in git. once my system admin is there I would check with them. Thank you so much Kind Regards, Bharath K
