@Anonymous: rarely, if ever.
@ManishEarth: Hi again Manish. My first thought was that it could be the total surface area of the water column but when you say cross sectional area, do you mean the surface area of the water column that is in contact with the air?

Q: Do dreams ultimately, fundamentally, and theoretically unify physics/physical experience?

user33653HERE IS THE DEFINITIVE AND ULTIMATE UNIFICATION IN PHYSICS Our growth and becoming other than we are is essentially and necessarily linked with/to, and yet it is separate from, our wakeful experience. In dreams and wakeful experience, who and what we are necessarily involves our growth, survival...

I wonder why so many quacks use similar language techniques such as absurdly long lists of adjectives to emphasize something.
"The natural, true/theoretical, ultimate, fundamental, essential, foundational, and actual understanding and unification of..."
Speaking of quacks, I love this edit description "elaborating, in order to neutralize conspiracy theorists."

@BrandonEnright Yeah, the revision is hilarious (well, he has revised again) :D
That's how we link revisions... (in case you wanna get the exact revision copy) ;-)

@CrazyBuddy Thanks! There are too many tricks I don't know.

@Nick Again, you measure pressure against a surface. For example, pressure against the bottom surface of the container. That is force on the bottom surface upon the area of that surface. This can also be said to be the force exerted by the water column by the cross sectional area of that column. Really, pressure/stress is tensorial, so while the diagonal components are usually the same, we cant generalize that.

@BrandonEnright So do I... Manish throws the bones sometimes ;-)

Check out the comment the dream metaphysics guy made: "I am respectfully requesting that my ranking or credibility rating/score be significantly (and justifiably) improved or increased."
Sometimes that crap is worth it just for the good laugh.

I am respectfully requesting that my ranking or credibility rating/score be significantly (and justifiably) improved or increased. This question clearly merits priority display or visibility here. Thank you all for posting this super important and fundamental physics question. — user33653 4 mins ago
@BrandonEnright Always... I love reading spams and rants (I get around 5-10 each week, in my blog) :D

@CrazyBuddy Yikes! I like quackery in small doses only.

Hah!!! :D
Today, I got 3 :P
Unluckily, some are unreadable...
Oh, he wants an amusement park :D

Q: Our best questions come from non-expert users

Emilio PisantyEarlier today I was eyeballing other people's badges because, you know, badges, and I came upon something of a curious observation. If you look at the answer badges - specifically Nice, Good and Great Answer, there is a clear sense that, even for the bronze badge, established users of the site - ...

@DIMension10 After reading a bit of his writing, I don't think they're the same person. They don't write the same way and they seem to deal with different fields of quackery.

@BrandonEnright Maybe he's just very sure about his special relativity-related crackery which is why he doesn't "ask" about it on a Q and A site : )

is this for physics chat? I have couple of basic questions on Euler equations for rigid body if any experts here?

8:48 AM
Hmm... A nice visualization of SO users (based on rep.) ekisto.sq.ro
I wonder what those different countries represent. Probably tag-specializing :)
@Nasser Yep, this is where we probably hangout. BTW, experts may come and go. Just ask your question and someone may reply ;-)
Don't expect me on that :D

@CrazyBuddy thanks. good to know I am in the right room. Need to make sure my question is clear. let me read more first and will be back. Just wanted to check if this is the right place first.

kk :)

Can anyone help me with quantum homework?

Q: To get good answers ask a good question!

John RennieNo really, scientists have proved it using our fellows over at Stack Overflow as guinea pigs. I wonder if there's enough questions on the PhysicsSE for a similar analysis to be meaningful ...

Every time the universe take a probabilistic decision, it splits into branches. Is it a microscopic phenomenon, or it is true for macroscopic world also? @DIMension10

@KaziarafatAhmed that's the many worlds interpretation
May not be what the universe actually does

@Nasser Yes, but you don't only have to talk about physics here. Pretty much anything is fair game for the chat room.

@DavidZ thanks. I was not sure since room name is the-h-bar if this was physics or not. I am confused at Euler 3D dynamic equation of motion. But will have to ask the teacher tommorrow, easier, since I need to explain and need a drawing board :)
