This was interesting

A: Read damaged sectors of floppy disk partially at least?

NetchAt secondary school I was dealing with Agat computers at school computer class (exactly, this was Agat-7), clones of Apple II series. Their 5″ diskette drives were also clone of Steve Wozniak and Shugart disks of Apple II, but with some misdesigns, as absense of zero track sensor. To seek to zero...

@LateralTerminal Hello!

2:37 PM
@wizzwizz4 Hello! I noticed you commented on this one. Russian knockoff computers are very interesting to me for some reason.

@LateralTerminal When I review I don't like to say "no action needed".
Sometimes I do, if there's nothing I can add.

@wizzwizz4 Yeah I try to drop a comment or upvote when I'm reviewing. I haven't done much reviewing lately

I'm currently trying to contribute to SO.

3:26 PM
I see you've been very active there the past 5 hours @wizzwizz4

@LateralTerminal Yeah. I'm familiarising myself with the technologies of today.
As in, 2018-04-06.

You're very versatile. That's definitely going to be useful later.
@wizzwizz4

@LateralTerminal Hopefully.

@wizzwizz4 I think so. You'll be more adaptive to your environments.

@LateralTerminal Yay! :-)
I do think I'm good at that.

3:32 PM
@wizzwizz4 especially if you want to do programming full time. You'll probably find faster unique solutions that others can't find.
I'm sure you know that though and that's why you're studying up :)

@LateralTerminal I mostly just want to get some more SO rep.
So people take me seriously.
And it turns out that I am now good enough to be able to help people.
So it should be easy.
Woah! I can review on Stack Overflow now! Woo!

4:29 PM
Reviewing on Stack Overflow is work.
Hard work.

4:39 PM
I'm sure if they click on your profile they'll see your accumulated across all of SE :) @wizzwizz4 and 517 is a lot imho

@LateralTerminal It is a lot.
But considering that I was able to get over 100 in a single day...
I now understand how people can get 10k rep.
And above.

It's really hard to get rep in GraphicDesignSE
It's really easy in BlenderSE
Everyone is more friendly and less cut-throat at BlenderSE for some reason.
@wizzwizz4

@LateralTerminal Or maybe you just ask better questions there.
Wow. You've got 2k? :-)
By the way, why have you marked all of your sites as hidden?

@wizzwizz4 I noticed other users were hiding all their communities. I value it the same as incognito mode. Sometimes I search things or I'm interested in something one day but I don't want to be labeled by a search engine or a community to think I'm interested in things I'm not really interested in. I'm not hiding anything. Anyone can find it if they really want to do some sleuthing I guess.

4:54 PM
@LateralTerminal Or you can just join lots of them, and have that mean nothing.
But I suppose that's what the feature is there for.

I have 62 hidden communities :P @wizzwizz4

Personally, I find it irritating, as I can't see other people's global profiles without abusing teh mod powerz.
@LateralTerminal I can see...

@wizzwizz4 XD well I wanted to comment somewhere but I wasn't really interested in the community. I think maybe parenting is a good example.
Then arts and crafts was interesting but I didn't want everyone to know I'm interested in arts in crafts

@LateralTerminal Yup. I kept all of those ones private until I had a lot of them.

@wizzwizz4 Ah so I'm not alone in my reasonings
Well now I have too many hidden communities to unhide them all
It does look like I'm sketchy

4:57 PM
@LateralTerminal I think there's a button...

@wizzwizz4 I'm looking now I don't see one
anyway I like being a little private.
I think it's creepy that I can click on someones SO post and see that their child is being bullied or sexually harrased. It's just awkward

@LateralTerminal A bit private.
@LateralTerminal That's why moderators have to ask before merging accounts.
Some people want them separate.

@wizzwizz4 nooo now everyone knows I play pokemon )':

That's why I unhiddenated them.
If you want that not to work, change each of your individual site-specific profiles other than the unhidden ones to usernnnnnn.

@wizzwizz4 So people would be less tempted to sherlock holmes you?

5:01 PM
With the nnnnnn of that user.

@wizzwizz4 nnnnnn? whats that mean?

@LateralTerminal Because it was pointless, and I didn't do anything embarrassing on Stack Exchange.
@LateralTerminal Numbers.
On Retrocomputing I'd be user278 but on StackOverflow I'd be user5223757.

@wizzwizz4 I didn't even know you could do that without making a different account
But now that I think about it I think I did notice a few users that had weird different names but I don't remember how I figured it out

@LateralTerminal You can. Edit profile.

@wizzwizz4 Doing something embarrassing on SE is everyones greatest fear

5:11 PM
@LateralTerminal You can ask for the post to be dissociated if that happens.

@wizzwizz4 The mods can still see it's associated though right?

@LateralTerminal No, because it stops being associated.

@wizzwizz4 Ah I see. I bet you find more interesting things from users from their self deleted posts than anything else

@LateralTerminal You can see them if you have 2k+ on a beta site, 10k+ on a graduated site iirc.

@wizzwizz4 oh finally some incentive to go 10k XD
How would I even as a mod to delete a deleted question?
I have one in Arquade I wanted <s>deleted</s> nuked

5:17 PM
@LateralTerminal Dissociate?
A flag, presumably.
But mods can't do that any more.
I don't think you should bother.
Nobody will look at it.
It's boring.
Unless you become really popular, nobody will start with you when snooping deleted posts.
They don't come up in search results or lists except for mods, so if you want to find them you have to scrape the site.

@wizzwizz4 I don't care that much It's not super embarrassing
Be honest @wizzwizz4 do you think SE in general is overly politically correct to the point that people are afraid to be honest about how they think?

If you're not allowed to comment on that because you're a mod that's fine you can decline to comment.
If you want to reply privately on github that works too
I'm logged in our private chat gitter.im/wizzwizz4

6:09 PM
@LateralTerminal I''m allowed to comment on that; all I agreed to do was not break the website or publish private data.
I don't think that SE is like that, personally.
There are things that I don't say, because they would upset other people and achieve very little.
But I don't think it's any worse than spoken conversation with strangers.
Except it's public and logged.
But that's because SE isn't a chat system.
(Well, chat is, but...)
