@Adám so what did you learn in uni?

@Uriel Applied philosophy.

@Adám oh cool. So like yeshive, only not judaism oriented?

@Uriel L'havdil elef havdalot.

@Adám sure. O, I hate hebrish (Hebrew typed in Latin letters)

@Uriel I know. Sorry, but this laptop doesn't have Hebrew keyboard (and my Hebrew touch typing is very bad).

11:20 PM
@Adám ah, that's cool. I have no problem reading it, it just looks so weird

@Uriel It was very strange and chaotic. No proper distinction was made between those who try to model how people do behave and those who try to tell people how to behave.

ngn
@Adám that's a well known problem in ethics :)
@Adám Hume's is-ought problem

@Uriel No proper methodologies, and fallacies were rampant. Not to mention breaking formal logic.

@Adám isn't the current trend around the world is just telling people "to be themselves"? Solves both at once :)
@Adám well, regarding logic, there is a great field called irrationality study, regarding human non rational behavious

@Uriel Nietzsche? Sure. Tends to lead to violence and other abuse, though.

ngn
11:23 PM
@Uriel but I don't want to be myself, I want to be handsome and clever

@ngn well, both are subjective. I'll leave the explanation for @Adám

@ngn That's basically what my Rosh Yeshiva said.

ngn
@Adám my turn to get confused :)

@ngn same goes

@Adám I think you keep filling SE chat with rooms
And btw how does that relate to Judaism?

@ngn @Uriel My R"Y said that it is the trend today to say "Don't try to be like somebody else. Be different! Be yourself!" Nah, everyone tries to be different these days. Wanna be different? Be like Moshe Rabbeinu. That's different!
@Uriel So? One room per subject is good practice, methinks.

@Adám nah. Judaist aspect is to learn from great people but not be "like them". One should aspire to fullfil his purpose, not "be awesome"

@Uriel Because that's the perspective I'll come from, and I suspect you too. Nick and I have spent enough time together for that to be a good starting point, no, @ngn?
@Uriel Right, not "awesome", but in Rambam's words, everybody has the potential to be like Moshe Rabbeinu, i.e. to use his potential 100%.

@Adám yup, that's more like it

ngn
@Adám we've spent a lot of time discussing all sorts of things, yes

11:36 PM
I said "basically".
@Uriel A lot of interesting discussions happen around Dyalog's lunch table. Well, or used to. Miss you, @ngn.

@Adám well, your company name is a distortion of "dialogue"

@Uriel It actually isn't. It is a contraction of Dyadic (Systems) and Zylog (Processors)

ngn
@Adám well, I'm still there on the Internet, ready to argue about anything :)

@ngn It's not the same as being able to raise voice (and arms – in dispair), and then being reminded by Andy or Morten to get back to work. :-)
