And he was scared of being abducted.

He asked us to report this supposedly illegal human trafficking website. Turns out the website was one advertising forum software. The website itself wasn't even a forum. He just got spooked seeing that the forum software's features included mods being able to see IP addresses.

Given that it was 15 years ago, and mostly targeted at vulnerable children.

Not in the sense of: we have your ip, we come and get you.
