@Derpy well if it was natural dying out or leaving earth (as i recall reading on the Wikia that the Ancients may have been space faring) then it's still a good thing
but then again at the end of Dirge of Cerberus, Omega WEAPON was summoned and his summoning comes long with the final exodus of the planet and i think it was a neutral victory as i think Omega did send alot of Lifestream into space but didn't wipe out the planet
and Deepground's plan was to trick Omega thinking it was the final days by sacrificing those untainted by Jenova as pure lifestream so who knows how many actually died before Omega appeared

@Derpy don't think so, i think with the physical parts of Jenova being wiped out the Lifestream to heal the rest since it was quite instant healing Cloud and the children

@Memor-X That was kinda my point. The show they merged to make that series often do not make any sense together, to the point that a viewer may sometime wonder why plot or character may suddenly jump to something apparently unrelated. At that point, you are just better watching the various pieces in their original format, as standalone shows.

It is clear that the point of the game is that Chrono and the others changed something in history... but exactly what they changed in your opinion?
@Memor-X kinda. Officially, all the plot starts because they end up in the future, see what will happen in 100o years from now and decide to try to stop it. But the point is: what was their role in the original flow of events?
Because the more I think about it, the more I get the idea that the original flow already had them messing with history. The only thing that "changes" is the final outcome.
Originally, they died at some point, probably the first time you meet Lavos at the Ocean Palace.
@Derpy i think something else "pushed" things to happen. as Robo mused when Luca was repairing him, while working on the forest he had come to realise the Gates were not Lavos's doing but something else's that wanted to show them Lavos and possibly stop it, maybe Schala reaching out so that Crono would bump into Marle which then trigger the events that made the gates poissible
@Memor-X Yep, but what I meant is that (forgetting for a second the whole Tesseract thing and the Darkness Beyond Time concept that becomes more relevant in Cross) if I look only at the first game, I get the idea that the "entity" cheated.
At the beginning of the game, it seems like changes propagates immediately. Marle disappears alegedly because she caused people stopping to look for her ancestor.
Yet guess what? Frog was still going to that church. You can say that he was doomed to fail if you didn't get there to help him, and that originally before Marle went to the past he went to the church with other soldiers backing him up... but let's forget that for a moment.
Problem is that the following events that you interfere with in the past appear to have already solved like you helped to. The New Game + endings even joke on that.
You end the game before going to the past and therefore causing the defeat of the Reptites? Now everyone in the present era is a Reptite
so I am wondering if everything up to the point where the party first battles against Lavos was a sort of "predestination paradox" in a way.
They were trying to fix the timeline that was doomed because they failed to fix it.
@Memor-X ? Wasn't it the opposite? Magus was born in Zeal - at the time called Janus. Then the Mammon Machine incident displaced him to the Middle ages where he was able to pretend to be a demon king due to being able to use advanced magic in an age that almost forgot how to use it.
@Derpy yeh that's what i mean, in the original timeline Magus only went into the future but in the unstable timeline there was an unstable gate in his castle which activated sending him back to Zeal before Chrono

Neither do I see any geo restrictions, nor juridistiction of services. And all though I might be wrong, I believe I saw some fan subs on there as well. Which is quite the red flag.

@Memor-X You mean the gate that opened after the battle at the castle when he tries to summon Lavos? The party get sent back to 65,000,000 BC, he ends up in Zeal. At that point, he disguises as the Prophet. And wasn't the Prophet already present in the first place when the young Janus ended up sent in the Middle Ages?

In the altered version, the ruby knife becomes the Masamune after the incident, yet that part didn't happen in the original timeline right?
