you know I just kinda feel like it's not a good idea anymore to let your data sit on some remote server with you being able to export only some limited version of it, and also the functionality is always not good enough and there is no convenient way to extend it
also everything is so slow for some reason
I tried to use the explore queue on steam to browse games during the sale and it was sooo sluggish
it'd be a wonderful idea to download a several gig package of all the thumbnails and descriptions and browse just that, locally, and then send/receive the data to the site if you want to leave reviews or comments or post your ratings publicly
but that doesn't bring companies any money coz you don't watch their ads
all of these db sites would be crying "but think about the corporate profits"
sites are one thing but steam client itself is not a browser, it's locked to just one store
why not cache all the store page content locally so it loads instantly
there aren't even any third-party ads on the entire site
idk what cards do, I only found that you could get a one-time 5 usd discount thing for 5000 coins which I did and the rest were chat stickers and profile backgrounds neither of which I ever use
@Hakase you use them to craft badges and that's about it. but for some series i like to have the complete set like with Sono Hanabira which i have made 3 badges and have a complete set
basically steam is already a CDN and provides gigabytes of traffic to a single user monthly, so why not just let you download the cache of the entire store and browse it locally at instant load speeds
@Hakase i found out that discount was one time only when i was getting DLC, not complaining because i ended up getting the rest of the Megadimension Neptunia VIIR DLC for a couple of cents
when I played fortnite for a short while, I noticed epic launcher has a checkbox to auto-decline friend requests >.>
I'm guessing if I make my own catalogue app, I might as well add games to it and a steam:// protocol url launcher button so I don't have to use steam client
