@ton.yeung Basically each channel has two slots. In order to run dual-channel, each channel needs to be identical.

So if the 16GB DIMM is in the first slot, I believe it needs to be in the first slot of both channels.

I think. I know older machines were really picky about that.

@ton.yeung Yes, but you may need to pay attention to which slots you put them into. Or you might lose the dual-channel.

Whatever you do, it won't fry the machine. Boot it up, open up CPUz and it will tell you whether it's dual-channel.

If not, move them around.

I usually don't have this problem since I run homogeneous memory and I fully load them from the beginning.

(my 5960X runs 8 x 8 GB identical Corsair sticks)

After all, it has 8 DDR4 slots.
