At the end of the first volume, it turns out somebody is in a time loop because he (the aforementioned male protagonist) commits suicide at the end of high school and she regrets not being able to save him.

@Eric I posted a link to the proposal in the Buddhism chatroom. Not many people in that room, though, so I doubt that's going to get us many followers/votes.

Also, people following the Japanese Culture proposal should weigh in on the discuss question I posted about Shinto.

Q: Who borked the Area 51 stats?

All beta sites (e.g. Anime & Manga) are appearing with 0 Q/D and 0 avid users. Site index is unaffected. In the Q&A spirit, my question is: Who borked the stats?

I recommend always optimizing for the laziest possible way to solve a problem

Also, never post a bug until you're sure you can't exploit it

(at least, not in any way you couldn't do with any other bugs)

This one seems hard to exploit, but it could be possible if there's some internal server that's messed up or something. At the very least you could potentially learn more about SE's internal structure, which could be useful for future exploits.

@Eric The stats have been borked on and off ever since the database issue they had yesterday.

Nothing else obviously seems broken right now. The only reasonable correlation is with the database stuff yesterday, but there's not much I can learn from it unless there are other issues elsewhere.

Still waiting on Area 51 version 2 which is well overdue.

A52 will never happen. SE is too concerned with localization issues right now, which will take basically as much effort as they can put into it.

Replacing A51 would require a rather sizable cooperation between devs and CMs and a lot of time spent on the design process. I doubt it will ever find itself high enough on the "to do" list for them to actually do it.

They said the ETA was less than a year. That was over 2 years ago, and since then I don't think anyone's said anything official on this front, but they have said that a lot of other things (MSE/MSO split, localization, etc) were their current top priority. So presumably someone just gave up and said "this is good enough".

Anyway I have no idea what the difference is between all of these things.

But it strikes me as rather odd that programmers need dozens of different sites. In other fields the standard is that a site should roughly correspond to an academic department in terms of scope, but I don't think there's any university which has as many different programming-related departments as there are sites on SE.

@Eric FWIW seems there were other things borked in Area 51. In particular, user reps on other sites are wrong. It seems to use the most recent value which was successfully confirmed, so for most users this just corresponds to an unnoticeable delay in A51 rep updating, but for some users (e.g. those who signed up recently) it's noticeably incorrect.

Makes sense I guess. But it's not terribly relevant for anything important that I can see.

Apparently it's now counting every question as being in the last 2 weeks, so for sites younger than 14 days it gets the right number, but older sites just get their total number of questions / 14. Checked a few other sites and they matched the pattern.
