I suspect I know what that removed message says :)

12:54 PM
@Mego There are absolutely no removed messages!

:P

Also ROs can absolutely Trash messages - if we couldn't, then TNB would have burned to the ground by now

Like I mentioned before - the Trash room is a gallery room, and moving messages there requires write access. Ping the owner or a mod and they can get you access.

I did request access to Trash and Trashcan, but I did not get any answer yet

You won't get access to Trashcan, because that's mods-only. It's a private mod room for things that are too sensitive for Trash, but don't need to be (or shouldn't be) deleted.

1:08 PM
Ah I see, so trashcan and deleting is mod only?

Anonymous
Yep. Regular users can delete their own messages, but have a time limit on it. Mods can delete any message, no matter how old. The same goes for editing.

ROs can see deleted messages' content in the edit history (unless it's purged by a mod), and can see them by scrolling up in the room (but not in the transcript, for some strange reason).

There's a sort of hierarchy for the options for removing messages. From least to most severe: Trash < Trashcan < Deletion < Flag deletion (flags cast by mods are automatically validated)

Too bad there is no tutorial for ROs!

Anonymous
Ha, I should probably make one

So You Think You're a Room Owner

Turns out the room owns you

Too true...

I don't constantly hang around TNB by choice. I can check out any time I like, but I can never leave.

There's a decent Mother Meta answer about the powers of ROs, but it doesn't cover nuances like Trash being a gallery room and such

Also the fact that you're either doing nothing, or doing everything wrong

@Mego Now I've got this song stuck in my head :)

You're welcome

I'm looking for a library for writing images, any suggestions?
(Right now I'm trying Codec.Picture)

1 hour later…
9:23 PM
Yay, my first haskell picture:

@flawr Nice! How did you implement the Mandelbrot set?

@Laikoni Basically the brightness coresponds to the magnitude if the maginitude is not above 2, otherwise we map it to black.
If you don't mind I can post the code here.

9:45 PM
@flawr Aux contraire.

    import Codec.Picture
    import Data.Word
    import Data.Complex

    size = 600
    iter = 300

    img :: Image Pixel8
    img = generateImage f size size

    f :: Int -> Int -> Pixel8
    f xx yy = fromIntegral $ floor $ color
      where x = fromIntegral xx
            y = fromIntegral yy
            s = fromIntegral size
            normalized = 2*(2*x/s - 1) :+ 2*(2*y/s - 1)
            mag = magnitude $ mandelbrotIter normalized
            color = if  mag > 2 then 255 else 255*mag/2
C'est "au contraire" :)
I did struggle a bit when trying to find out how to use this library, but I can proudly say that in the end I managed to find all my mistakes without consulting any examples.
