hello Finisterre

4:11 PM
Hi there

hi
first, i would like you to try out the following

replace this line: TextBox1.Text = oUser.LoginName
with this: TextBox1.Text = "Hello world"
:)
and tell me if it's working

ok. hang on.

sure, i am waiting

4:17 PM
yes, that works.

ok, i think i got in the meanwhile

what do you think?

put this inside your DisplayInfo method: TextBox1.Text = oUser.LoginName
and maybe
change also clientContext.Load(oUser) with clientContext.Load(clientContext.Web,s=>s.CurrentUser);
ok, sorry. let me rephrase:
1. change clientContext.Load(oUser) with clientContext.Load(clientContext.Web,s=>s.CurrentUser)
2. put this inside your DisplayInfo method: TextBox1.Text = clientContext.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName
this should work

I have done other apps where I read and write from lists using the Client Object Model and I always leave the Display Info method empty.
Hang on. Updating...

the reason why I think you should put this in the DisplayInfo is:
1.this blogpost does it in a similar way
2.in your onQuerySucceed method you don't do anything, just call Me.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(updateUI), which eventually means you call DisplayInfo
at least I hope that's what it calls.

4:27 PM
I usually reuse the same DisplayInfo method for several different procedures, which i why I don't put anything specific in it. But I will try.....
By the way, S is not declared int hat code above.
in that code above.
I think the OnSucceed and DisplayInfo stuff is OK. I usually do it that way. It's just the code to get the userid that is wrong I think.

maybe
the best then would be to start from scratch and do it exactly like the guy does in his blogpost
he is even putting it in a textbox. it should work perfectly for you
sorry, I forgot to paste the URL earlier
i have to now, but i will log in later from home. you can leave me a message and we can definitely continue tomorrow
*have to go now
see you

Thanks
