@uhoh great question on the Senate patent, very interesting stuff :)

@CDJB ya the juxtaposition of a US patent and civil war symbolism caught me off guard, but Moseley-Braun's telling of it, while short, certainly sounded interesting!
I'll be taking a long train this weekend, so I'll see if I can download her "impassioned speech" from the congressional record and take it with me.

@CDJB your reply to my comment under your answer has disappeared. It was helpful and I still need it to work my way through what actually happened there, which I don't yet understand. I'm all for comment cleanups but is it possible to reproduce what you explained in that comment here perhaps?

@uhoh still seems to be there for me - possibly someone else has seen your message and restored it 🤷‍♀️
@uhoh if you read further on in that document their legal arguments are set out - they argue that because Act 77 allowed all voters to qualify for vote-by-mail, it had the effect of modifying the PA Constitution which stipulates in Art. @CDJB oh, it's 6 AM I'm pre-coffee, was looking at several pages at the same time and got mixed up, yes it's of course still there.
Oh, okay yes I'm 90% there now. Yes that helps very much. It sounds self-consistent and reasonable on the surface, but it would be great if they had addressed this more publicly and explained why of all the possible remedies a lawsuit was the best option.
It seems like if they believed in the law, then other remedies might be possible. Anyway, I'll think about this further. Thanks!
