haha
That must be the weirdest question I've seen yet
I'm surprised it's asked by a 4.6k user, too

Just idle speculation, but could it be that Republicans would welcome impeachment and removal from office of Trump, putting Pence in the lead, while having a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate?

10:52 AM
On one hand Pence would almost certainly be a more effective president in actually getting things done @SQB, but on the other hand, the entire impeachment procedure would bring a lot of drama/take time out of getting things done
Besides, it might be seen as an effort to get rid of Trump by Trump's supporters (which is not entirely unreasonable).
And everything we know of Trump leads us to believe he's not going to go quietly
Or dignified

SQB
Of course he's not.
But still, I wonder. It might be political strategy.

I think most GOP representatives are not at all happy with Trump and his antics
But consider the alternative worse

SQB
Exactly.
The alternative being Mike Pence, or the alternative being having been Hillary Clinton?

In the election many conservatives had a real dilemma: either vote for someone you ideologically disagree with, or vote for an unhinged loudmouth
Of course, it was sort of their own fault for nominating Trump in the first place, but still

SQB
Yes, but that was in the election. Now a president Pence might sack the more idiotic Trump-appointees, put some trusted Republicans in their place, and perhaps even look good for "saving the country".

11:02 AM
Well, like it or not, Trump did win the election
And trying to remove him just four months in to his presidency will most likely not be seen as a good thing by most of the Trump supporters
Plus it'll take a lot of time out of the GOP legislative agenda, no matter how justified the impeachment procedure is
Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that Trump is an uniquely incompetent president on almost every level, but it is what you're stuck with for the foreseeable future, I'm afraid.

Well, thankfully I'm not stuck with him (other than the entire world being stuck with him).
En jij zo te zien ook niet. ;)

11:36 AM
heh, well, as POTUS you sort-of affect everyone, not just the US ;-)
