I started another play-through of Half-Life 2 over the weekend. My last time was probably three or four years ago. The story holds up remarkably well. The gameplay is still good, but I found myself having more fun shooting Combine than shooting zombies. There have been a few areas that are completely mystifying as to how to get to where to go next, even after several play-throughs. The physics, while great at the time, are really dated today. More to come after I've finished it (I'm about 3/4).
Yeah, I was debating whether to even mention the videos. I think hints from us will do a better job of helping while not simultaneously ruining the puzzles
I had my brother try it a few days ago and he really liked how the game forced you to grow in bite-sized ways throughout the "tutorial" levels (though he didn't do level 10). He also commented on how each level seemed significantly harder than the last, which was also my experience. He was pretty impressed at how well-designed Tametsi was with regards to level placement and structure.
@EricTressler I don't quite remember if they were labeled as such in the game. In any case, they sure don't feel like a typical tutorial. Most game tutorials are easy and are just intended to teach you the controls/mechanics. Tametsi's tutorial does teach you its controls, but it's not easy. Each level after the first couple is a challenge.
